They aren't the worse club but that is a good question that I have been thinking about. Hawthorn could use a player like him as would at least three other clubs.

There has to be more to this trade and I am inclined to think there is.
Stop making sense, they don't take kindly to that 'round here

OUTS: Beams, Reid, Varcoe, Dunn, Shaz, Broomy, Treloar, Stevo, Phillips, Atu
INS: Picks 14, 16, 65, 70, 75, 92

Has to be a plan to pick up a delisted free agent or 2.

I'm open to anybody at this stage lol. But I think Matt Parker should be locked in, we literally need SOMEBODY to put pressure on JT to perform.
I wouldn't mind

Just remember one thing too guys. If you cancel your membership you don't get a vote at an AGM if there is any sort of leadership spill. Just saying.
Ed will never face a vote.
If a challenger actually emerges he will step aside rather than lose a popular vote.
There's a bit of Trump and a whole lot of Jong-Un in him.
Besides, he would definitely call fraud and ask for a recount!

If it wasn’t bad enough that we had to shed multiple players to get the cap under control, sources from within the club leaked this information. This was at least as equally damaging to the club as any mismanagement of player payments.
PLEASE!!!
We are run by a media professional. There was no leak. This was orchestrated to ensure it all happened. Pressure on the payers and managers and open invitation to clubs to make an offer. There was no going back for 3 players that wanted to stay but were openly shopped. It's pathetic but it's real.

Stephenson aside from being sh*t there are clearly issues behind the scenes so I’m ok with that, but I still would have held onto him and not traded for less than a first round pick.

Phillips is sh*t also, and the salary dump is nonsense. He is 25 and it’s only one year of the contract the hawks will have to stump up. We are not bringing in any big players this year so cut the crap.

Treloar im hoping for our sake not his, that he has limited capacity left on account of his injuries. He burns the ball we know, but geez he’s a gun. We should have got more for him also.

the other inconsistency in the story is that we want to replenish our list, then why trade two under 21 and a 25 to?! Atu was the biggest F up, I’m convinced! If that guy can learn to run AFL patterns or even just give him a simple role he will be a gun, so clean and composed by hand. Tackle hard and runs like the wind.
i agree on Atu. I would have preferred to keep him. But maybe it was required in order to get the Stephenson deal over the line..

interesting 3 of our biggest butchers of the footy GONE
The reactions on here is simply staggering! agree with we are moving on soft one sided footballers that butcher the ball.

Norf should be cross examined for forking out 5 x $500k for a troubled individual thats had one good year and a weak plodder who is a punching bag on this site for the same money!

As for Treloar, show me any positive comments on any match day thread and ill give you one of gimps Gorilla's

2 first rounders (a third would have been ideal) is great, it'll be improved when we move our 2021 1st into this year as well.

Deep breath, the excuse of salary cap is finally gone and we can now make a play for big names next year.

What the club thinks happened: "well done guys, we've got some salary cap space, we can sign Jordy & Mihocek, we got into the first round, and off-loaded some players with ability, but also with injury concerns, deficiencies, and attitude problems..."

What has really happened..
- ONE v late first round pick for Treloar & Stephenson... joke
- fans & members disgusted with treatment of players, and some level of membership fallout will happen - just the scale tbd... bad
- culture & motivation within playing group will be affected, because of treatment of mates & leakage in list - scale of which still tbd... bad
- other prospective players and coaches will question our culture (& list) for the next 5 years now... this wont go away quickly... bad
- existing coach will be embarrassed with what we have had to do / got back, and the fact that he will have to front he media on all of this, constantly
- Derek Hine must think we are a joke (along with other internal & external recruiters) giving him zero to work with this year. & after he finds these players - Witts, Stevo, Adz trade, we just piss them away...
- our playing list will show no immediate upsides from this - only weakening, as pick 14 will likely not play next year, and the future 2nd will help to get Nick Daicos, but this couldve been done in a much smarter way. & they also cant rate Bianco, Rantall & Murphy that highly, if they couldnt beat out 40 other players on the list to crack a game this year.
- Still no KPF acquired, or forward pocket... meaning that Cox will again have to deliver, Kelly & Ruscoe will be expected to play out of position, 2 inches taller and 10 kgs heavier than what they are, plus Mayne, Thomas, Hoskin Elliott & Greenwood will play a lot of games next year... opposite should happen
- freed up cap space for a free agent signing next year - but no guarantees that will happen, and after we miss the finals next year & Pendles / Howe / Sidey / Roughead near retirement, we strongly risk not having a list strong enough to entice anyone decent enough to justify today's sell-off, like Merrett
- given us a shot at a top 5 pick next year, as other clubs get stronger, and we look a good chance to finish closer to the bottom end of the ladder.

Club cant see the forest from the trees I feel....

over to you Ed

Anyone would think someone shagged everyone's mums, it's just a ******* sport, get over it ffs.

lol

Even in the face of indisputable evidence.

My toughest day in footy....bar none. Managing contracted players who love the environment out of the club is a lose/lose situation in the short term. The decisions aren’t popular but they were necessary. I wish Adam, Jaidyn, Tom and Atu all the best at their new clubs.- Nathan Buckley twitter feed...

Why were they necessary? Will the club explain these trades and why they were necessary?....l think the necessity was due to mismanagement of the salary cap...

Arrogant facetious prick.

If we'd applied the same performance measures to him that we apparently just did to players this year then he would have been gone long ago, and should be gone now.

There's no way this can be spun in a positive way, not for what we got in return.

Always such a relief to clear some clogging. How good does that cap space feel!?!?

Good stuff Pies.

I know I'm going to regret asking this but are you using humor as a coping mechanism here? You don't genuinely believe today's effort was a positive one?

Just changed my club support for 2021 through AFL members, I stay Gold and Pies don't get a cent of my money win win.

Which club?

Can someone answer this question:
WHY IS IT THAT THE WORST CLUB IN THE AFL WAS THE ONLY CLUB INTERESTED IN STEPHENSEN??????

Any other reasonable club could have jumped in a grabbed a 'bargain'. But all stayed away. I doubt Stephensen was over the moon with the opportunity to join a basket case of a club that doesn't have a coach and playes in front of 10,000 people each week.
I’ll answer it.
Because the better performing clubs don’t want to pay the ridiculous contract dollars that Collingwood signed Stephenson to.
He is a talent, but not a 600k talent at this point in time.
Had an awful year, had off field issues and is being overpaid by a factor of two.
Smart clubs won’t pay that. We will, and have.

Mate we’ve traded treloar, Stevo and all our seconds for pick 14. You can’t sugarcoat that
