Is the Stringer situation beyond repair?

  • The club clearly want him out the door.

  • This was just a shot across Jakes bow as a means of motivating him.

  • The club is clearly a rabble. Sack Macca!

  • This is just the first play in massive trade that we are not yet privy to.

  • This is a game of blink and Jake and Conners just blinked.

  • Its time to move on a negotiate the best deal we can.

  • I felt sad for Jake on that stage today.

  • We've warned you about creating polls Norm!

  • The Jack 'Armageddon option' Watts option

Interesting that Martin beleives he was duped on his last contract. If l was Richmond l would find a way to compensate him.Anything to keep him.

Dustin getting duped. Who'd have thunk that?

Not saying you are wrong, but there was basically only 1 club that wanted him last time he was out of contract. He toured GWs and they didnt want a bar of him

During the 'Crunch' on SEN this morning, Sam McClure had reported that Lever was indeed sighted meeting with Melbourne officials.

I know any player meeting with oppostion club officials doesnt mean much, after all, Jong had a tour of the Holden Centre and that ultimately went nowhere and etc.

Does anyone have any updates on our chances of getting Lever?

McClure speaks pure crap. Yet another journo who seems to say whatever he wants and is never held accountable.

Has anyone pulled him up on saying "Dangerfield 100% won't play vs Adelaide"? Didn't think so.

I know a lot of people hate him and his opinions on football stink but there's only one "newsbreaker" journo believe when it comes to trade rumours. Barrett. He's usually on the money with that stuff.

Shame he sucks at everything else.

Now there is an article that lever is bound for Collingwood.

In my opinion until a trade goes through there are no certainties. Just look at how franklin was bound for gws then went to Sydney, schache was gone then re signed, Jong was gone then re signed.

Until a player nominates a club and the trade goes through everyone is just playing guessing games

Getting Tippett scares me.
Dead $ as far as I'm concerned.
Roughead will struggle for a game as I'm sure Bev would prefer Tippett and Toyd alternating ruck & forward. Roughy is so underrated imho He does a lot of work not on the stats sheet.
Now if this rumour is true, maybe our MC know something about Toyd that we don't ? Please no !! I can't see why he'd be training if he was going to retire. Or are we going to see a new structure in 2018 with 2 permanent KPF ? And if that trade is going to make life tough for Rough, I'd suggest is spells goodbye to Cloke and Red.

Nah. I'm overthinking it all. Thus I suggest it's all BS.

I'm coming round to Tippett, particularly if we can get Syd to pay us picks to take him. Tippett is far better than Campbell, Red or Cloke. We could have a dangerous rotating fwd/ruck group of Tippet, Boyd and Rough in the one team IMO. Going on history its unlikely we have all three fit at once anyway.

One way or another all of our rucks have proven to be fragile, and IMO we definitely need another mature ruck in our squad. If Syd want to pay us to achieve this goal. I'm ok with that.

I'd imagine we'd re-negotiate Tippett's contract like Cloke so we reduced cap impact in any one year, but on a larger scale. So I'd imagine getting Tippett wouldn't smash our cap as much as people might think at first glance

I understand most of that. But you don't think that kind of coin would be better spent on a speed machine or 2 ? Is Roughy that bad as a ruck ? Is Red or Cloke that bad if a 2nd KPF is desired (assuming Toyd is #1). OR. If Adams, Young and Cordy are all fit, one of them slides forward.
Doesn't matter which way we carve it, Tippett is going to cost upwards of 700k pa, for another injury prone tall with a dubious form line who imho only marginally improves our structures.

700k is a very large portion of a Lever requirement. It would be enough to snag a Charlie Cameron. I think money could be better spent elsewhere.

I doubt we'd sign Tippett to 700k per annum. That might be the last year of his contract. I'd imagine we get him down to say 500k over two years. I'd be fine with 500k over two years - would you?

Yeah that's the thing. Tippett is 30, injury prone and is coming with a fairly substantial contract. Even if we're only picking up the Swans contract for a year or two before he moves to a lesser contract, 700k is enough to pry some very good footballers away & with Cameron sounding like he wants to leave then he's a far more valuable and structurally important player than Tippett just as an example.

2017- 7 games missed injured
2016- 9 games injured
2015- didn't miss a game
2014- ignoring his injury from the preseason, missed six games

If it came with a guarantee that his form returned to pre knee days yes. In fact then I'd do the 700, set up a 3way KPF/ruck game plan and sadly say bye to Travis and Red.
