We've got our Dahl compo to eat up the West bid. Even if we didn't, it would be better to go into deficit next year than drop that far down the pecking order. Would be horrendous for us.

I'd be pretty surprised if actual news has already hit the media and ONLY 3AW is running with it. They're usually jumping over each other to break it first or at least without delay.

He may still have chosen behind closed doors, but if it's 'officially' out at one news outlet then it's at at all of them.

Unless we trade it for a top established talent (eg Wingard) then Pick 7's primary use for us is that it will almost certainly fall before a bid comes for West, meaning we can get a top draft talent and West. In that situation, the only way we would trade down without receiving a top established talent in return would be down to, say, pick 10 or pick 11.

I'm not sure the Dahl compo will cover a reasonable bid (12). Would require your pick 45 in addition by my understanding.

In any case, I'm sure you could get a better deal from one of the Adelaide clubs...

Wouldn’t think so..... best thing for us is to get a good player drafted in before any bid on West and then use our later picks to match with points or go into deficit if necessary, but I think we should be able to get enough points with what we already have plus whatever we get from Brisbane for Marcus Adams.

Easy no. That pick 7 if not traded to Port, will be worth more in a supposed 8 player deep draft at the top. Despite what the points value says, not worth it for us

Teams in our position want to do the opposite, ie trade out picks from right after where a bid is expected, so they don’t get wasted on matching. No way do we want to trade those picks in, especially at the expense of a top ten pick. Will never happen.

Hahahahaha. Not a chance. We will already get West with Dahlhaus compo and if we go into points deficit for next year then so be it. We aren't gonna pass up on a top 7 talent in this year's draft.
