Is it just me thinking this but do some clubs seem to have bottomless salary caps? Geelong for example seem to be able to add anybody they like and still fit within the salary cap. Carlton are adding Zac Williams and Saad and were having thoughts of chasing DeGoey (now refuted according to AFL website). I know the AFL scrutinises each team's spending but this issue continues to bemuse. As we are never linked to the big names seemingly on the move, it would appear we don't have the cap space that several other teams do. Just a tad baffling.

Agree and I suspect it maybe after career opportunities but it’s hard to know. One thing I will say is that we don’t tend to lose our players that we want to keep and part of that will be looking after them

But from those you talk to, does the footy industry really believe Danger is on less coin then Jared Polec? Honestly I struggle to believe that. The guy is an out and out superstar and should be on 1mio plus.

Guys that get pissed and do stupid things now and then (Lachie Hunter, dusty martin) are not dickheads.

Guys that distract teammates and infect a group (stringer) are dickheads.

Sometimes the biggest dickheads of all are guys that never get in trouble publicly. Backstabbing, selfish, sour types. We all know people like that. They must be avoided at all costs.

Vardy, McKernan, Daw et al aren't great players, but are the kind of player whose value on the field structurally would offer more than their abilities suggest, simply by giving English a proper tap out and being somewhat competent in another position when not in the ruck. So I get the interest in these players. But Trengove is better than all of them and hardly gets a game.

We need a dual position ruck to complement English. Even a shitty one might patch over our greatest glaring weakness, but only if Bevo is willing to pick them.

If Bevo has a mancrush on any player mentioned above I'd be all for it.

From what I understand, he’s not on 1m. None of the Geelong boys are/have been. I don’t know specifics but the message coming out of the club is that their is a very very specific pay structure and it tops out at certain criteria. There are other ways to get benefits to players, though. Why do you think Bonti drives a 2019 Merc ute?
