Absolute joke of a football club.
And the AFL keep giving them assistance packages.

They have completely mismanaged their list since they came into the competition. They have obviously back ended his contract based on potential after they drafted him with a top 10 pick (Academy selection from memory) and he hasn't progressed like they thought he would. He is a handy player but nothing more than that. Do we want him? Not in my opinion and definitely not on $800k a year even with pick 7 thrown in. Let North or St Kilda over pay on him as they have done previously with other players, eg Polec, Hill & Crouch among others.

We’ve got most of our list signed beyond the next 2 years don’t we? If so, I’d happily splash the cash to nab Pick 7 and Bowes.

Wouldn’t mind if he can take McCombs spot on a wing. Anyone know what his tank is like? Would he be decent in a wing role? Don’t know a lot about him besides decent skills, slowish, and pretty good footy IQ.

Yeah I’m assuming GC would want something hefty back it’s not just Bowes & 7 for nothing. But of course it all depends on the contract too, if we’ve got the room to absorb it and it won’t harm us then absolutely go for it. It’s only 2 years too so can offer him a 3yr deal and smooth out some of that contract over 3.

Obviously depends if we rate him or not but geez you only have to look at Brodie this year to see that some of these kids up there who have struggled to find there feet may have untapped potential - he’s classy & composed and a good size, sounds ideal for a medium defender - question is can he defend?

Something like Bowes, 7 & a 2nd/3rd rounder for 11, then ship that 2nd rounder along with 29 & 37 back to Brissy with Dunks for 15, 19 & 2023 1st would be tasty

You’d be looking at a new contract and trying to spread it over 4 years I reckon.

I think Bowes can play a similar role to Blake Acres.

I’d be trying to do

Dunkley + shitty picks for points for Brisbane first this year and next.

Brisbanes pick 15 for 7 and Bowes.

So really lose Dunkley for 7, Bowes and next years first (which will probably be in the 15-18 range).

With the Hunter news I wonder what paying out his contract looks like, I mean the bloke wrote off his car drink driving surely that goes against the terms of his contract? I’d say we’d be negotiating a deal which isn’t exactly 1.3 over two years or whatever he’s owed. Fingers crossed we can find someone to take the contract as we need it off our books.

Going to be an interesting trade period for us it seems, our goal just has to be to find enough late picks however many needed to send back to Brissy for all of 15, 19 (if they get it) & ‘23 1st rounder, we’re in the best seat because they need to deal with us so as long as we can get them enough points to make it worthwhile for both of us, it’s a win-win

As much as there is excitement about moving up and getting Bowes.
Hearing that it’s more aimed at those with an earlier pick than 7, who can move back a little and get Bowers.
Eg. Pick 4 for Bowes + 7.

I don’t think we are in the market for this, unless we want to hand over Pick 11&15 for pick 7 + Bowes + ~pick 25.

Yeah it would just depend on what other teams are offering him too, as obviously he’s owed this money from being backended so it’s not ideal for him to spread 2 years worth of wages over 4, if other clubs offer him more across the 4 we probably wouldn’t stand a chance

Gold Coast already have 3 second round picks. They don’t need any more.

A more likely scenario is:
Bowes + 7 for a Future first
Or
Bowes + 7 for 11.

I mean if we can get the future first and some other stuff from Brisbane for Dunkley then it's a no brainer to turn it into 7 and Bowes.

Bowes is slow isn’t he? He’s an inside mid who has been forced to play defence.
He’s pretty athletic, ran a 3.0 in 20m which isn’t slow slow just not super quick, also finished top 10 in the verticals. Seems a genuine inside/outside type based on his junior career with footskills & composure his biggest strengths. Sounds suited to a wing or defender rather than a genuine midfield rotation IMO

Acres is a pretty good comparison I reckon

GC have academy kids coming up next year so they want future picks.

Lion should try to involve suns so they can get a package of picks for Ashcroft and avoid trading a player from their list to us.

Last year Suns traded out Will Brodie and 19 for a future 2nd (and some junk picks both ways) under similar circumstances.

Brodie was in the league top 10 possession winners this year and polled 11 Brownlow votes.

Suns are a shambles.

It's not like he would of been that player at suns. Freo had the fortune of Cerra leaving opening up a spot in their midfield.

Fair enough. I clearly need to see more of him but they are solid stats.

So have been told that Lachie Hunter is 100% gone the team and coaches are all off him.. compulsive liar even skipped the dogs mad Monday and went to the Carlton mad Monday so the boys didn’t know he was drinking and getting on it… if he doesn’t find a home the dogs will pay out his contract..
So Carlton mad Monday was held when?

Delayed a week?

And footy industry in many ways is small Hunter would have known it would get out

From little I have heard he is hitting the gym and trying get things sorted
