Dale Morris, Matt Boyd, JJ, Liam Picken all say - that’s a ******* stupid idea !!!!
I’m not a fan of wasting the list spot either but I don’t think the rookie list is what it used to be. As scouting has becoming more professional you get far fewer misses in the first round and fewer gems dropping late.

There are obviously still very notable exceptions across the league at both ends but fewer than there used to be.

True - but are they more likely to be a success than Stefan Martin is at this point ??

We can’t laud Sam Power for being the list manager from heaven and then bag him in the next breath for managing soft cap issues.

It’s our best 22 that counts not players 41 and 42 on the list
The problem is that we have question marks all over our best 22. We can't lock down our wingers, small forwards, lockdown small defender, 3rd tall intercept defender or key defender.
There's quality AFL players available at every stage of the draft and rookie draft so we should be trying to free up spots to try to find them.
There's no point keeping old players who can't get games in the list because they're good people

Everyone is talking about our Key Back Stocks, I get it...but here is an idea....

Blokes like Bailey Smith, McRae, Hunter, Treloar and our half forward line need to step up their defensive pressure when they don't have the ball. We dont stick tackles and sometimes our foot speed is pathetic when closing space. However, when we have the ball treloar and smith run like rabbits... go figure. Our defensive issues are structural but I would say 80% is typically above the shoulders. Some of our so called guns don't have the desire and enthusiasm to perform the defensive aspects of the game. Though, if your spot is not threatened at selection why would you.

Defensive effiort is a cultural things and needs to be demanded and expected right through out the club from the bont right through to our last list spot and unfortunately this is something that isn't happening.

We don't have those tough animalistic guys anymore, the Pickens, Morris etc..... that expected and demanded it from every player

Ads was railroaded and shat on at trade week while Grundy had months to know his circumstances. Totally different circumstances. Bad call.
Plus Treloar has a well-known and much talked about anxiety disorder.
Shit call. Especially from a "supporter"

He was told he wasn't wanted and it was Treloar that leaked to Sam Edmund the details of the conversation between him and Bucks.

This is part of professional sports. Treloar decided to sook it up.

Agreed so let’s get let players like McComb, Schache, Hannan and Scott who do not provide enough off the list. Focus on getting the best 22 up to scratch and less on minor issues.

We must find a midfield midfielder with pace that is our number one priority either in the 2022 draft or from the trade table

Need to find someone with pace yea AND ability to dispose by foot cleanly , with precision and the ability to comfortably kick a 45m distance with accuracy.

They have now have a history of not showing up on the big dance today can’t blame the umpire anymore

Why you say that?

Swans have given a good account of themselves in GF’s

Today was a blow out but historically they have been ok

Hope next time someone says we have a no dickheads policy they take note of Stengle.

Some dickheads are absolutely worth the risk

He’s not necessarily a dickhead . He had a tough upbringing . Removed by social services from his parents, brought up by his kin & then his mum died at a young age .

He went off the rails as a young fella but it’s great to see him given a second chance . He’s incredibly talented . A good news story in a tough week for the Indigenous community .

Stengle is the exception. For every Stengle there are numerous Stringers.

I'd be happy to get all those players off the list as well as Wallis and Martin but at least those players have played a significant number of games in the last 2 years.

Treloar believed the reasoning to be made up, why wouldn’t he be upset with that? It’s not surprising that after the way Collingwood handled things the wheels completely fell off, requiring a clean out that lead to this years success.

While none of the names mentioned above excite me much has anyone considered maybe we are going to lose Cordy? He has a two year contract on the table from us and hasn’t signed. And people have also suggested that Keath will retire as well. If that’s the case we need to add some depth. And hopefully a couple of young kids in the draft.

Stop getting my hopes up.

So Cordy maybe retiring? or does he have an offer from another club. Keath retiring is a real possibility with how his year went. Just looked cooked all year.

Definitely not. We need to draft and trade well but put in place a coaching staff that transforms Baz from a very good up and coming player into a top 5 midfielder which he is capable of.
