Is Cadman from Bacchus Marsh? It’s 56 km from Geelong and 61km from Richmond. I think this just about seals his destiny. He’ll be comin’ home to the Bellarine Peninsula in 2024.
I thought he was from Horsham for some reason. But he's actually from Darley. 66km to Geelong, but only 65 to Richmond. It's going to be tight, but that Bellarine vibe and fresh sea air probably carries to Darley!

If they think that you can trade that package for a pic better than ours in this year’s draft we would just take that deal and do it I would’ve thought. But I think that is pie in the sky

Kinda had to do it. Their glory years midfield of Cotchin, Edwards, Martin, Prestia are on their last legs and haven't drafted mids to replace. Taranto and Hopper are an instant midfield rebuild to stay in the game.
Taranto and Hopper were worth every cent. They got a mature pick 2 with a bag of tricks and a mature pick rated close to 1/2 in his draft year who is a bull. Richmond’s trade management team would be loving life 👍

think they said using the picks of 21 and future first to try and sneak in there somewhere they said would someone like a carlton take that

As soon as the bid for Ashcroft comes in, their next pick is frozen and must be used on the FS….
They may use their future first to trade back in but I doubt anyone will trade an early first round pick for their future first.

It’s not knowing the rules bulldust.

Any truth that the AFL happy for Lions to trade us F1 , 21 and BOTH F2’s in exchange for Dunks and 30. Proviso that trade goes through in prime time tomorrow night?

Any chance we can find a trading partner like Gold Coast is to Geelong?
  • 2019: Pick 64 + future 1st (pick 11) for pick 27
  • 2020: Pick 27 for future 3rd (pick 52)
  • 2022: Bowes + pick 7 for future 3rd (pick 37+)
Every single one of these trades would have had other clubs offering significantly more than Geelong in return for the assets that GC gave up. Every single one. You can argue the Bowes deal was restricted by his choice of destination club, but the deal is still insane.

I know corruption gets laughed off, but I'd imagine if a rival club put the right amount of $$ or future property deals in the right people's hands, there'd be a couple of people in the industry who'd agree to stupid deals that damaged their own clubs. Especially if that particular club lacked governance and check/balance mechanisms.

I'd be very interested to see what an investigation would uncover. Hypothetical example: If it was an indisputable fact (written evidence) that a club (or two) offered their Future 2nd for Pick 27 in 2020, but Gold Coast instead opted for Geelong's Future 3rd - guaranteed to be worse - how could that be justified on any level? Hypothetical, but one text message would prove a smoking gun that something very dodgy was going on.

That would break AFL rules (F1 and 2x F2s) so sounds like fan fiction
