He’s not exactly a big name but I’m keen to shake up the midfield and if gotten fairly cheaply could be a good addition in the right age bracket to be Libbas understudy, big bodied athletic mid in the modern day mould whose a two way runner and excels defensively.

I’m starting to like the idea of shifting Macrae out of the centre bounces as we’ve done recently. No harm in running him off the HFF as the extra mid, he’ll still play mostly around the ball and run the ground but just not see as many centre bounces which isn’t his strong suit with the way the games being played in the middle right now.

A 21yo like Robertson & our first pick on an 18yo midfielder to add to Baz & the aging brigade in Bont, Macrae, Libba, Adzy and im feeling a lot more confident about our list going forward

I think if dogs did it would have been last year with the Dunkley trade. I would rather not touch Lions players anyways.

I thought he was one player we asked about as part of the Dunkley trade?

He was incredible in his u18 year. Instantly becomes the mid on our list who works hardest defensively. Not sure if he's a need though if we think Garcia has midfield scope.

Watching the VFL game, I was surprised at his pace. Has a good burst of speed and manoeuvres through congestion really well. Probably would put an end to any chances West has of making it as a midfielder with us though

It's likely why he's playing as their other wing with McCluggage.

I had a quick look at mids that couldn't get a look into a team mainly because they'd be a cheap option.

There's actually not many that could see themselves still not able to break into a side if a mid retires. There is: Thomas Dow, Sam Simpson, Finlay Macrae, James Jordan & Jackson Hately.

There's also Coffield who has never played midfield yet. I would target Jordan just because he's the best on that list. Seems he's been given the Dunkley treatment and cant get midfield rotations despite being 1 of their mids throughout 2021.

Hopefully we'd do a reverse Dodo and offer 2 x 4th rounders, then whinge to the media how the Bummers are stalling the kid's career by holding up the trade...

Going to struggle to break into Pies midfield.

But is he any good? And does he have the attributes we need? I know he's only a half-brother but we don't need another midfielder with Macrae's athletic profile. Not that it's terrible, we just need a different type.

Also if he's only a half-bro does that invalidate the dud brother rule?

The current mix already lacks pace and defensive pressure, not sure we’d want to add another Macrae, especially if he lacks Jackson’s upside. Genuinely would rather we just rookie listed Poulter if we’re wanting the Pies scraps
 
Ummmmm. Why the excitement over Nick Cox? Had a handful of decent games with rest very quiet. Can’t get on the park and has back issues.
Sounds like the potential to be the next Scott Gumbleton. A big pass for me, let someone else take the risk.
I rennet the meltdowns over Tommy Williams being a clogger. IMO he had bigger upside but just a body that didn’t let him play.
