Yes , Dogs very lucky with picking up a #1 academy kid and a pick 4? father son in Darcy.

Something the Eagles simply dont have the same advantage and access to at the same level.
Despite that, you and Freo for that matter seem to pick up rookie gems regularly, bonus of having just two teams in one state and being able to closely watch the development of draftees.

Agree with you, our trades have always been fair between our clubs.

I felt Geelong really took you to the cleaners though for Kelly.

Sorry but just cant see the Eagles trading pick 1 2023 plus pick 1 in 2024 for any player who is a free agent within 12 months.

Chances are Eagles are totally crap again next year and hold pick 1 or 2. In both main and the PSD.

Bulldogs match the bid next year and then force a trade negotiation with a club holding pick 1 in the PSD. Who has the leverage in that negotiation?

It may not be English but the Eagles will be throwing big offers at free agents as their older players retire or are let go.

They land Ried this draft and add another top 3 pick next season added to Ginbey, Hewett and the other top 30 picks and within two years add some mature free agents things will start to improving. And the list starts looking attractive to players in their mid to late 20's.
Not gonna be a 2 or 3 year build even with free agents coming back.

Try 8-10 based on the clubs that have gone through it previously.

Go ahead and try and convince a 27 year old to come to west coast after winning 3 games in the last 2 seasons

Not many I can think of.

Eagles got good value out of Josh Hill, who we traded out for a pick in the 40s.

We traded Grgic for not much way back, but effectively got Matthew Dent for him, a win for us.
Andrew McDougall back in the day when we were crying out for a full forward

We used to sure. Havent nailed a rookie since Gov really.

Very hard to hide gems like teams used to.

Eagles recruitment has been pretty average. Nic Martin trained with them and was let go for Essendon to rookie.

Sumich was pleading for them to take Warner and they picked spuds instead.

The most likely way for WC to get pick 13 from us is by trading Barrass to us.

Unless they want 13, 18 and our future first for pick 1.

Swans enquired about Barrass and would be very, very keen again. Big gorrilla full backs especially intercepting guns dont come cheap.

Pick 13 alone wouldnt get Barrass, other sides would offer more.

Been told he is a Perth lad who is laid back and isnt interested in moving.

Apparently we had the feelers out for him pre season, but being a WA local, too hard to pry away. Would love him.

The convincing has to happen in two draft and trade periods time, not now.

Some rebuilds do take over 10 years. By clubs who arent good at rebuilding and try and take shortcuts.

In 8 to 10 years time basically every player on that list older than 20 will be retired or past their prime.

One saying in footy that rings true. Things are never as good or as bad as they seem.

IF Eagles are seriously going to rebuild, they either need to trade pick 1 for 3 late first rounds OR trade players.

Very few are worth anything to other teams and anyone over 26 should be traded asap. Their careers are unlikely to feature in finals for the eagles.

So from all reports there are three players that we've been connected to in the midseason draft.

Caleb Poulter is a tall wing who has also rotated through the flanks at both ends, has kicked a couple of nice goals but not his big speciality. Still young at 20 and knows our system playing for Footscray.

Marty Hore is an intercepting defender, more of a medium size at 190cms. Has played AFL level for the Demons with 14 games in 2019 but is 27 so time isn't on his side.

Shaun Mannagh, small forward that rotates through the middle who loves kicking goals and has a strong tank. Is 25 so probably his last chance at an AFL list.

Mannagh is actually a midfielder that rotates through the forward line. Had a big 40 possession, 4 goal performance against a good team in Southport earlier this year.

Croft among the best on ground for the Cannons today, kicked 3 goals (equal most on field). Looking more and more likely that he ends up a first round pick
FFs haha what a frustrating blessing for us.

If that’s the case we desperately need to identify some young midfield targets for a trade with our first rounders

Haha yeah bit of “first world problems” about it. May end up having to trade up or send our firsts into 2024 and trade back in at a penalty. We need elite midfield prospects to come in, but at the same time can’t afford to pass up the gift of another elite tall that’s fallen into our laps

Yep there’s just no way you pass it up considering the bargain you get with points, just have to make it work by finding a trade target or like you said sending picks into next year
