Not totally against Harmes, but it would need to be minimal trade cost and close to minimal cap space. Upgrade on a few players but semi-worth backing someone on the list to do a job. Replaces Scott in the best 22 for example if it’s a more mid/defensive forward type role.

I remember he kicked the opener on one of our games in recent times and gave it to Libba, not many would do that.

He has tatts, so must be a hard campaigner

Nah in all honesty I actually would take Harmes, he’d make us better slightly and he’s the sort of role player we should be looking at that actually has some strengths to compliment our core. A little bit of speed & aggression, not just pure vanilla like our usual role players.

My concern is what we’d have planned for him. He needs to be a genuine mid rotation and just slapping him in without a plan does not help, and with our scattergun approach as of recent I feel like that’s what we’d do. In all honesty the moneyball move would be cash in on a first rounder for Macrae and replace him on HF/Mid with Harmes.

The worst thing we could do is replace West with 28yo Harmes in the foreword line and lose him - wouldn’t surprise me at all if we pulled that bullshit and that would piss me off.

So if we actually have a role for him and a plan to fit him in without disrupting younger more important players, then yeah hed suit us and what we should be looking for in a role player right now IMO. So I’d be happy with a move as freebie

He's no better than any of these guys though.

Indeed he had a statistical worse season than ever one of the motley crew that you mention. McNeil being the obvious outlier with his average being ~ 50 worse.

Harmes looked a long way off the pace at both AFL and VFL levels this year.

If we we are going to use Scott and Vandermeer as a metric for what constitutes average.

Then Harmes' 12 disposals a game fits in as snuggly as an unlubed butt plug with our dark passage of the average.

Harmes is exactly the type we should be looking past.

Pass.

Trade Radio have just said that St Kilda are expecting that the pick they receive for Coffield will be used to acquire Henry.

Henry is worth an early-mid second rounder.

Coffield is worth a slight downgrade of thirds.
Injuries not withstanding, watch Nick have a better career

He will not be tagging under Bev
A new director of football or whatever the role is that Leppa may be taking might have different ideas. Surely we need to nullify oppo teams best mids in 2024. We can't keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

we need to find 3-4 additional tough footballers who will fly the flag. Developing west is one, I’m happy to bring in harmes too. Even faux tough guy stringer would at least fly the flag. We need a return to the 2016 era when we hunted the opposition and weren’t afraid to hurt them.
No point being Faux tough. Will turn out like 2016 GWS instead.
