People are genuinely concerned about paying English, Naughton and Marra anywhere near $1m per season but ok with paying a depth mid half that?

500k over 1 year is a little different to a mil over 8…

Unless they are going to bring in more than what we paid for Lobb (in terms of draft capital), then he can stay. Used correctly, he can add real value and hopefully with some coaching restructuring and rethinking - we can get more out of him than we did last year.

The top end talent isn’t going to turn those close loses into wins. Having a more consistent and reliable bottom 6 each week will.

If there's any truth to it might be because he was managed poorly in his first preseason that he had to get surgery on his ankle after the first game. There's also that the club is currently going through a downturn atm and he might want to pursue a premiership and think the club may not be able to deliver on that. Saints GWS and dees are all contending atm.

Maybe I’m naive, but from my perspective, journalists read Bigfooty and no doubt dig into a lot of rumours they read on here. If a guy with Lobb’s recent trade history was on the move after one season, it would be reported somewhere.

I’d argue the Saints are a long way off. GWS performed well at the right time of the year and the Dees might be running out of steam.

Interestingly enough, Naughton, English & Lobb all share the same management. There would be some interesting conservations going on between Connors & McDougall around all 3.

It might be pure fabrication but Lobb has always shown throughout his career that he’s in it mostly for himself and to better his personal situation wherever that might be.
