pies are already coming hard at richards. with our key fwds english and bont taking a fair chunk of cap it might be hard for us to match pies offer.

They need KPP’s lol, can’t imagine they will want to take us on in a bidding war

Sydney are coming hard for Josh Dunkley too because his dad played for em

Historically - we play our midfield draftees early - we also have players coming through so I wonder what our early 23 looks like.

Let’s assume we get: Berry, Hynes or more likely Hynes Hannaford with our first two picks. We have also have show that we play our second rounders (Gallagher/Friejah etc).

Starting squad could look like:

FF: Berry JUH Darcy

HF: Weightman Naughton West

C: Richards Trelor Williams

R: English Bont Libba

HB: Dale Lobb JJ

FB: JOD Jones Duryea

Int: Friejah, Sanders, Bramble, Hynes

Emg: Garcia, Gallagher, Coffield, Khamis

Two years away we are still looking good.

I don’t think Naughton will go back but the team just feels stronger.

It also allows Khamis to play here he is really dangerous - when he plays here he kicks goals and has got better each year.

Allows Naughton to go forward when Darcy or JUH rest also - which should happen if we work them hard. Bont can swing forward more also.

West and Garcia to play large minutes in midfield. Likely to play a couple of first years next year also.

FF: Berry Darcy Khamis

HF: Weightman JUH West

C: Friejah Richards Gallagher

R: English Bont Sanders

HB: Dale Naughton Bramble

FB: JOD Busslinger Coffield

int: Garcia, Hynes, Eagleton, New?
Adding Berry up forward and Hynes as a mid forward just makes this starting 22 look sooooo good. I’d love Berry to get through. Such a great list fit for us.

Our key forwards are on marginally more than perryman. We just lost 2+mil in midfielders this offseason. We'll be fine
Barrass money has to go somewhere.
Pay the trio I say.

Bramble extending his contract twice in a five month span is pretty cool
Probably a sign we are looking to maximise the cap space created by losing Daniel and Macrae. He may have been signed on for something like 350k/year for 2 years, and could now be on 320k/yr for 3 years but with 500k coming next year.

That’s exactly what we are doing, hopefully Richards is next, an extra $300k in 2025 plus a smoothed out contract till 2030

Or heavily front loaded starting next year and on little/base after that.

I've got 2 friends (one male and one female) with those initials! But for some reason, I thought of Lance Barnard and the abbreviation for pound (as weight). Yes, showing my age... 🤔

Showing my age when I thought of these lyrics:

… The other night I drifted nice continental drift divide
Mountains sit in a line, Leonard Bernstein
Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs
Birthday party, cheesecake, jellybean, boom
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam but neck, right, right

Not stressed one bit about Richards signing dragging on if it does. He’d be silly to sign now. Another season in the midfield like he had once Liber went down and he’ll probably earn another 200k a year.

Don’t see any reason why he can’t be our second best midfielder this year.

Yeah, a strong season and he's looking at getting at least a million a year.

That's pretty doubtful

Maybe, but he can play as an attacking defender, now also as an attacking midfielder. At the Ballarat game v Giants I sat in front of three GWS recruiters. They were saying pre-game Richards is becoming our most damaging player, due to his contested ability, evasive skills, running and carrying capacity, and elite disposal. With the cap expanding, if he has another stand out year, a million won't be as fanciful as it seems now.

So there are 50 million dollar players 😏
Surprisingly, yes. Sounds crazy on the surface, but it's an average of 3 per team. Once the big cap jumps take effect, I wouldn't be surprised if the number was closer to 70+

It's pretty easy to pick out 3-4 players per team that would be getting at least close to that. Even a club as crap as North would have Sheezel and Larkey easily on $1mil, then depending on timing of contracts (and trying to hit cap floor when the list was even more barren) they have guys like LDU, Xerri, Simpkin and possibly even Logue who could hit $1mil+ in at least one year of their contracts.

Looking at the contracts players are now signing (and taking cap increases into account), pretty soon we'll almost certainly have Bont, Naughton, JUH and Darcy on $1mil+ with Richards a chance to join if he continues his improvement

Richards will probably sign a deal similar to what was offered to Bailey Smith. 820k-950k.
