Interestingly, likely draftee Isaac Quaynor is now being played off the wing at Oakleigh. Hopefully he is another one that can rotate onto the wing eventually and add some line breaking run.

But yeah, if we can't land a KPP of quality then I hope we trade-recruit a speedy outside player.

Stephenson could someone else be played in that Role and I even reckon WHE could be Descent in that Postion

I agree and have felt this way for a while. Felt that we recruited/ drafted the same type of contested midfielder who didn’t have exquisite kicking skills or line breaking pace (Treloar the only one with genuine acceleration).

That’s why I thought that Wells was worth a gamble. His body hasn’t stacked up, but we saw in the first year his worth to our side with his agility, creativity and kicking skills.
You are correct Wells was worth the gamble.

Elite talent.
Hadn’t been a boon for us, but on him, worth the gamble we took.

If they are just good talent but at Wells stage then that’s a pass from me.

Risk v Reward must be there

Stevo is a few years off having a body able to hold up to sustained midfield time I reckon. Don't mind the idea of WHE on a wing, but you are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Lose his overhead prowess up forward to which is a big trade off.

Josh Thomas is the one that should, by rights, be looking to add to our midfield mixture. Just seems a bit hit or miss in the midfield when he runs through there at the moment, goes missing for large chunks.

Saw something the other day that said that sources with the Club stated that he is expected to sign soon.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a short term deal (like JDG), can go for the big contract next time...assuming he then has some major runs on the board.

Guess being our Leading Goal Kicker be hard to send to the Wing.

Need 2 WHE's;)

Nah, not really. But they do support my point. Let's not forget that Kelly also had the benefit of playing in 1 of the best and most experienced defensive groups in the league.

I also just really rate Appleby. Think if fit and available he's a lock in our 22, not just because of what he does, but the way he complements others within the defensive group. I see a lot of traits in him of Collingwood small/medium defenders of years past like Andrew Ireland, Ian Cooper, and Robert Hyde. If he goes on to be as good as any of them we'll have done really well with a rookie selection.
I take more consideration into your likening him to past greats than bring up stats.

If Moore was to leave Sydney would have to trade for him and given the recent cal Twomey phantom draft. it's very possible that we end up with 4 1st round picks.. :thumbsu:
Moore trade with Sydney
Our own 1st rounder
Isac Q as a 1st choice
and Kelly as a F/S

Only problem is, Sydney aren’t going to give up their first rounder for Moore.

To me in bringing in a new players from other clubs just ask one simple question?

  • Will this player be a top 22 player?

If it’s a no, then no thanks to the player.

Caveat: only a specialised player back up can be considered eg back up emergency ruck like a Ben Hudson.
Otherwise just leave alone.
I would also prefer them not to be chronically injured. We have too many in rehab

Moore isn’t worth that imo. Plus they have Blakey coming in who will get bidded on early.
If they’re offering the money that they’re rumored to be, then I don’t think they’ll have much choice but to offer a first.

Not even as a "break in case of emergency"?

By the way love that quote from Reykjavik.
I just had a peak at his career stats... I didn't realize he was 192cm and this is the first year he has not played 23+ games in the past 8 years. 7 intercept marks a game and ranked very high in effective disposals.

I would take him on a one year contract

Be interesting to see if they are offering the same amount of money now he’s on his 3rd hammy.
If they aren’t I can’t see any reason for him to delay signing with us. It’s not like their soft tissue record is brilliant like North.

I don't remember him getting beaten 1 on 1 also. Worth a punt considering Dunn.

Not sure about the mental issue thing.
