He's not out of contract though, is he? I can see Port flat out refusing to let him go more than anything tbh. David Kock seems like he'd take the Tony Cochrane approach to managing a would-be departing player during trade week.

But everybody has learnt how little a contract means.

You convince a player to come. Then you work out a trade. And the player always gets there.

Here's a left field one - get right into the ear of Sam Powell-Pepper.

He's exactly what we need. He's just been dropped which is absolutely ******* mental. He's a gun.

There must be more to his getting dropped because he's a star.

Would be the next best thing to getting Wines. He's more than worth our first round pick.
He was rested not dropped. The kid is burnt out from the style of footy he plays and the load he has carried. No way Port let him go

One of their coaches was interviewed and said he was dropped because he needs to work on areas of his game.

Anyway, I just raise it as finding player who possibly have a reason to be disgruntled can be a good way to recruit.

Looks like its the time of the year that I try to use a kebab to lure you out of this thread!
Haha I've been on here less than you'd think the last few months, moved up to Canberra, etc.

You might have to use a more substantial lure though :p

Top 10 is probably a reach, hes top 25-50 though - it'd be like adding another midfielder of Heppell/Merrett quality (but better on the inside) to our midfield which we could definitely use

On the Wallis issue I guess it depends on the cost. For reference:
  • Myers has never played a full season
  • Langford is only just starting to emerge - full potential still TBD
Despite that - Wallis averages more touches and goals a game then both. Has outperformed both of them this year and is getting into his 'prime'

Jesus, name the 20 better mids in the comp?

The discussion about Beams or Shiel is interesting - You are fair dinkum about fixing the issues with the midfield then you target beams before Shiel because Beams has a stronger inside game.

This is true but beams has 3 years left at best...

If we ignore the age Gap sure. We've said we wanted to Target players who will play along side out young star core for 6plus years. Hence why the beams speculation didn't make too much sense.

Its also telling that the club made a point of releasing a media statement saying we aren't into Beams. I didn't see a statement for Shiel.

Someone on Blitz said he asked Dodoro at a function last week about this and Dodo said that it was a message to our other targets that we aren't into Beams because we are into you (our real targets).

In the same post he said Dodoro looked pretty excited about our trade period without going onto detail.

Real or not just passing it on.
