Wouldn't mind obrien, we have literally only ham and cutler as our only genuine wingers. We have been in fairly desperate need of a good winger since Stanton retired. Obrien likely won't become a club legend but if a hard running, nice kick, former pick #10 wingman, who fills a gaping hole, could be included as a sort of steak knives for a player who doesn't want to be at our club, i'm all for it. Get him in.

As steak knives I wouldn’t say no. Both have just turned 21 and give us more young depth through the midfield. Dow is better than Clarke and O’Brien is better than Cutler.
Paddy Dow struggled with injury this year too I think. I still think he might end up a good player.

Oh no, we're starting the process of talking ourselves into Paddy Dow, aren't we

So from McClure

- Lions quite hopeful the deal will seal first round compo which makes everything simple

- Crouch’s deal at St Kilda likely won’t, meaning Adelaide will match

- Adelaide haven’t heard back from Fantasia and while they haven’t been told, they think he wants to go to Port

First step is a tick if so. Next step is to get Carlton’s first for Saad.

I thought clubs had 3 days to match before knowing what compensation they receive?? Or can Essendon on Friday after lions have lodged paper work expedite that process by advising they won’t match?
Nah it's given within the hour

I actually thought they were not told their compo until they declined to match. They just had to guess/base on previous cases.

That is why you hear teams complain about it every yewr.

I think if we do get pick 7 as compensation for Daniher we should give it to Geelong for 11 and 18(If they want to do the deal). That will give us 6, 12 and 19 before the Saad deal is even considered but that will kind of leave them stranded with only pick 8 to give up. Realistically we could end up with 6, 8, 12 and 19.

That should be more then enough to get Caldwell and Dunkley plus will leave currency for anything else we might want to do.

Geelong won't do that.

Geelong won't do that.
Just been hearing on trade radio that it was likely to happen with Carlton. No reason we should offer the same deal with our pick 7, gives us more currency. I think we need to look to get another future first round pick whether it be another first or a second to help with the Dunkley deal, unless the dogs have another player they are targeting.
