Why would they want to pay top dollar for a potential free hit? All good if he does go into PSD as far as I’m concerned.

I'm not a fan of the PSD. IMO they should get rid of it.

If Carlton had sucked harder this year and finished bottom four, they could have walked Saad to the PSD, or at least threatened to.

Looking at the number of players we have contracted or are likely to retain, plus the ones we are apparently bringing in, we aren't going to be taking many picks to the draft. Might get one pick in before academy bids and then that'll be us done. If we lose Phillips we can draft two plus Brand+Eyre.

That being the case, we will probably only use 6 as a live selection, 7 will be split and used to bring in the ones we've committed to, and we might try to move more into the 2021 draft.

Maybe that's why we don't seem to want 8 or 28?

Also gives credence to trying to move up the order.

Dylan Clarke and McGrath are the only ones that come to mind at the moment. Dunkley will certainly add to this
Sam draper says hi

If you played draper at fullback and he did crap and cut him you'd be piased
Not the same. He was at centre bounces, it was clear he was too slow, poor kick..etc. There’s a reason he won’t be on any list next season

He attended just 6 percent this year

We have what 35 on the current list as of right now? 34 with I.Mosquite placed on the inactive list if thats a viable option

That includes guys like Townsend, D.Clarke, Zaharakis, L.Johnson, Hooker, Crauford (1 of Hird, 2 irish)
I put the breakdown in a different thread but I was counting 37 including Brand, Eyre, Dunkley, Caldwell, Wright, Hind on the senior list and Kyle Dunkley as a rookie. Working on a list of 38 that’ll be one spot open.

44 players total, guessing K.Dunkley is a rookie so that's 7 rookies, and 37 seniors. If the list is capped at 38 then we will have one more senior spot open.

So unless we make another spot, we can only use one of those two first rounders we have... if Phillips leaves then I guess that's one? So at best two picks in the draft aside from the academy boys? We can also put Mozzie on the inactive list but I think that only makes an extra rookie spot, not a senior spot.

One pick would make sense with what we'll need to pay for the ones we want to bring in anyway.

Still need small defenders (lockdown and rebound) obviously, I assume Hind would play there if we get him despite being a forward for StK. FB looks a little shaky too. Not convinced Zerk has arrived at the level, while Hooker's train is leaving the station and Brand isn't even drafted yet.

Another medium-sized marking forward/taller wing should be on the agenda too, we'll need one especially if Stringer gets injured as we will be wanting to clone Langford otherwise.

I wouldn't be doing 7 for Caldwell and 20. I'd be wanting one of their compo picks back.

Biggest thing is, we need to get the saad deal out the way so the PSD threat is real. If we chuck a huge $ on his head, which we can- no other club is picking him up for a million dollars without him doing medicals/meeting with them.

This whole 2 or 3 first round picks for dunkley is ludicrous, he isn't in the dogs starting midfield.

1 first and 2nd round pick should be enough, and if they get treloar in a 3way it should only take a pick in the teens to finalise the trade.

If dunkley was so good he would be in the top 2 or 3 midfielders at the dogs but he's the 5/6th best.

srobbo,

As a long term Dogs fan I’ve seen and heard a lot.

I’ve seen 7 preliminary final losses, some of which we stole defeat from the jaws of victory.

I’ve seen the club nearly merge and be in the financial brink.

I’ve seen star players leave, I’ve seen abysmal performances and 100 point floggings in the 80’s at Windy Hill, Princes Park, Victoria Park and the lot.

I’ve heard all the jibes about having one premiership, the prelim losses, called Western suburbs scum.

I’ve seen and heard it all, and shrugged it all off, water off a ducks back, part and parcel of being a Dogs supporter.

But I will not sit back and allow you to compare us to ****ing Norf supporters.

I can tolerate a lot, but I will not tolerate that!!

lol I did say arguably but you do bring the average up. As for the other 95% of cretins on your board I could easily put them in the same basket as those Norf buffoons.

What about 7 and next year's 2nd rounder for 10 and Caldwell?

Stringer too.
TBC was awesome for it

I'd personally preferred that we pass, seems wayyyy too soft for mine, physically and mentally and I will put it out there now that I think Cahill is going to be an absolute gem from next season onwards, would prefer to put the games into him..
Far out, only on Bigfooty.
Don't want the jet that kicked 38 goals in his first year, because we have spuddy McSpudface who has zero AFL quality traits, but I just know he's going to be a gem!
If you don't want Stephenson cos he's a flog, or bad for culture, fine. But not because we have Cahill waiting in the wings, **** me.
Personally, I'd take Stephenson for a wing and punt Cutler asap.

Did you even watch Stephenson this year? **** me dead, we want blokes who'll have a red hot crack, he is not one of them. See a lot of good traits in Cahill and happy to revisit this next year with another season under his belt.. just seems like one of those goal kicking types we need and happy to be proven wrong.. at least give him more than 3 games before you write him off though... 👌

I don't know why it has to be too complicated tbh.

Essendon give; Pick 7
Essendon get; Dunkley

WBD give; Dunkley
WBD get; Treloar

Coll give; Treloar
Coll get; Pick 7

I know WBD might want more, but Dunkley has requested trade and by gaining Treloar they don't lose out here. Especially as Coll are willing to pay portions of his salary. Also the rumours were Coll were willing to trade Treloar for pick 5 from GC so Pick 7 isn't a bridge too far.

As for Saad, it should be as simple as a straight trade for Carlton's future first rounder. We should be holding onto this pick IMO with the strength of next year's Draft we should try and hold onto some currency for next year.

Caldwell, I think when it comes to crunch will go for a future second rounder. I can't see Hately going for more than that and I can't see any logical reason why they'd be asking for more than that for Caldwell.
