Picks #2, #25 & #44... let's hope we can upgrade the 3rd rounder to a mid/late 1st round in the Caddy/Toy/Jolly/Weller/Hickey deals.
 
How do the Zone selections work? Similar to father son? if another team bids do we have to use our next available pick?
 
Is Weller sticking around or not? Got the idea he was a certainty to stay if the club want him.

Yep it's definitely a risky move for Hickey, so many unknown variables following a girlfriend at a young age. But if the deal is paying him overs and offering regular senior game time, I guess he can buy a house with a big yard, plant lots of palm trees and pretend to be back on the Goldy! If Tippett signs, along with Dixon, Smith, Gorringe, Nichols all still listed for now, chances will be limited.

Kid just wants a regular game.

Only recruit that fits our need is Tippett. Anyone else metioned at this stage are not of the future, or we have younger players that can do the job.

Maloney? Well we got Rischitelli. Injury free, Rischitelli is better than Maloney.

As for Gorringe potentially going, well if its part of a Tippett deal so be it. Gorringe is seriously still developing, would not be in our starting 22 if we're injury free. Dixon and Smith are ahead of him at this stage, and if Tippett comes on board thats an even bigger headache for selection (in a good way).

Agreed. But he's a good player when on song (he tore us a new one in 2011), and with Rockliff, Redden, Rich and Blacky still there, it's Moloney who would need to shape up or their leadership group would ship him out. I reckon Vossy is building a strong core group of leaders up in Brizzo.

I was down 6 months ago, I cant see much change so either the surrounding suburbs are degenerating or I am missing something

From 2013 a zone selection works like f/s with the bidding system but suns have the final chance to zone select up to 5 qld players this year. If last year is anything to go by these players may be ontraded to upgrade picks
 
Mate truth is no one knows. The Suns will have scenarios worked out, such as if the Hawks decided they really wanted Weller as a best fit for their list next season and made an offer too good to pass up, then I imagine the Suns would take it, and Weller would be happy to go.

But if the offers are duds, Suns would surely keep Weller for another season and re-assess next year.
 
I can't imagine Weller would be 'happy' to go. Not after he got his whole family to move up to the Coast with him. I reckon he'd be pretty gutted about it.

Someone to keep an eye on, these Wellers. His younger brother Lachie is a real chance to get drafted. Either next year or 2015... forget exactly how old he is, but is smashing it for Broadbeach. Hopeful we can get him into the Academy! Has aspirations for playing for us apparently. :p
