A solid first Champs outing for Joe Berry who show cased the exiting and damaging package of skills he brings to a forward line. Started strongly in the first half, regularly leading up to the wings to get involved. Was quieter in the second but made the most of his opportunities to snag a couple of crucial goals and finish with three for the game.

Should be a target IMO. Averaging 3 goals a game in U18s isn't something to be ignored

Is the 2024 AFL Draft heading toward another lengthy first round of picks?

29 selections were made on night one of last year's count, and we could be set to see a similar figure in 2024.

Last year's draft had 29 R1 selections. Then only 15 in R2 and then right down to single figure selections in R3 and R4.

This year it's possible that there will be over 30 selections in R1 with Academy and F/S bids and Free Agency band 1 and band 2 compensation both falling during or at the end of R1.

The whole system needs an overhaul.

Looks a bit of a Toby Greene type, we desperately need some firepower up forward.

Tobie was a one man wall for Vic Country in an incredibly impressive display of small/medium defending. He took 5 intercept marks as a part of 13 overall intercept possessions, not to mention spoils, tackles and other 1% efforts to disrupt both his direct opponent and the opposition team as a whole.

Fan of this kid, stands out when playing with the best u18 players. I see a lot of Vlastuin about him!

Strong hands...good kick from a standing start...bit ratty of a kick in/from the contest...lacks some speed...could do with a yard or two! Tank is ordinary...handballs are ordinary...could do with a muscle/development program...
I would look at others for a first round pick...

I think the thought process here is that for the upcoming draft all the players after the top two are much more even then Dusty was for the rest of his draft

I don’t know if that’s true but I’d say that’s what posters are thinking
