They just said on trade week radio eagles could be making a play for walker... interesting?

Well if you are admitting that if the players aren't the problem for winning the spoon then its the coaches.

Age isn't an excuse either.

If you and Patronij could point to some specific trades we should have done, your claim might have a bit more credibility.

Bottom line is - none of our players had much if any currency, there wasn't much on offer in the market and we have some decent draft picks which we wanted to hang on to.

Surely you get what Larri was asking?

I mean in order for us to trade out a player, someone has to want him. People on here talked about McKinley like he was a gun... but in reality, the rest of the AFL has spoken and he is a crab who has been thrown a lifeline by an average team who have low expectations...

You want to list which of ours guys we should have traded out and what we would have got for them?

The reality is, we need to delist a number of players but most of them are contracted for next year - certainly we should cop some criticism for that - its crap list management ...

But back on topic, can you please list who we should have traded and what for?

there's really not anthing out there.

with these latest Cloke rumours, assuming no trade gets done in the next 10 minutes i'd get in his ear about entering the PSD although it's hard to see why anyone would want to leave the champions for the wooden spooners....

but ultimately we didn't really have much to work with here. McKinley is probably worth more than pick 86 but if no one else was willing to enter the talks then that's all we were going to get for him.

I am suprised that Spangher didn't get any interest even though he is very average, but club recruiters are often seduced by tall running defenders who can play short and tall... but unfortunately spangher's overall crabness has been shown.

When i heard the rumours of pick 4 for Dan Rich i really wanted the club to work their ass for that but ultimately Brisbane have to agree to that and we really are giving them a bit of an ass raping there. The only bargaining point we would've been able to use was that once they secured pick 5 having 4 and 5 would've been very very handy in this draft.

Apparently we have just received the round 3 compensation pick from Collingwood for our 3rd round pick this draft

From AFL Live Site

Collingwoods round 3 compensation pick?

not sure but think we just upgraded

we must be going to draft 5 players under 50

so that means Bones and Hansen will go:thumbsu:

We can use the compensation pick over the next 5? years i think

No we'll keep the compensation pick. Looking like we're going 3 live picks and we'll keep the third rounder in the bank. So we'll use 3 live picks and take brennan as well. Likely only spangher to be delisted at least until after the ND.

Exactly.

Pick 44 would have been wasted so we got a future pick instead.

Hansen better go, if not our club is an absolute joke!

^^^^^ this

Basically, we had 45, we werent going to use it. We swapped for a compensation pick which can be used on the next 3 drafts (I believe).

So we banked a future pick for a pick we werent going to use...

A pick from 35-54, depending on where Collingwood finish, in future drafts. For 45. Will be an upgrade if the pies finish outside top 6?

I would have thought maybe WC might be taking picks 4, 26, 28 and then a PSD pick based on this trade? If so, great deal.

Was a really smart deal from us. You can only take what people are willing to offer and want. In saying that though im still very disappointed we are only going 3 live picks in this draft.

Big week for West Coast.

We traded McKinley for pick 86 - which we won't really use.

We traded pick 45 for a 3rd round pick in 2011 or 2012.

I think we are Top 4 material now :p

a tad pointless although it gives us some flexibility in future years when a third round pick could be in the late 30's....

why would we gain a pick if we were going to use it, This draft if good until at least 50.

The compensation pick will be before the third round so puts us before the gold coast?
