I really do think Weitering will be our Harry Taylor. Play predominantly in the backline and then throw him forward should we need to.

He's got some guns that dude.
Has very strange legs. Saw him with his socks down at Subi oval. They don't taper like a normal leg, seem to just be the same size from shin to ankle.
I reckon he can play that position and do it effectively. Just not sure he's a natural CHF/FF . I've always felt the best big forwards are creative (flamboyant even)leaders who demand the footy.
But maybe he's the Josh Kennedy type. Hope it works.

You don't think Weitering demands the football?
I guess you may not seem to be demanding it from the back-line but he does want the ball in hand.
Saw that in his TAC year, when running up the ground. He does have voice.
He has the aerobic ability to burn off most opponents.
He's smart in the air and on the ground and the big bonus is that he can kick straight.
We're fortunate in that we have an abundance of smarts and leaders in the back-line already, with Docherty, Plowman, Simpson & Marchbank for starters and if remains down back, then we'll be better for it. We may just be that little bit better with him up front though. Time will tell.
Shit tatts defy explanation and on sooooo many people, many of them completely normal.

If Weitering gets a bit of rotation forward it will mean 2 things
1. The backline is totally dominating; and
2. One of Phillips/Kreuzer is a write off , Casboult and Jones are write offs, Jacksh is a write off...and all these blokes (any of them really) have to be able to do is bring the ball to ground if they cant lead properly and take a mark...

It may take a little time and some more 'Rowe' required next year.
Marchbank will clearly have a starting spot in the back-line as will Plowman, I feel. That almost picks up the talls required.
The trick would then be to get JGM or Macreadie to develop into a regular back-man to eventually take over from Rowe.
The other thing is; How many talls will actually be required, going forward?
Where will Boltons game go and do we want more run out of the back-line or to be bogged down with 4 talls?
I feel we're going to want the run and two KPD'ers may see us through, with Plowman playing that middle-sized defender.
e.g. Byrne Rowe/Macreadie/JGM Plowman
Docherty Marchbank Sheehan/Williamson/Pickett etc
Whichever way though, our back-line has the intel & synergy now to keep it rolling, whereas the forward line is bereft of smarts and ability.
Can't help feeling that Weitering would add stability and a calmness through the forward 50, we just don't have.
As for Jaksch. I can't see him being used down back any more.
Just feel it's forward or bust and that's fair enough, but he's going have to do it the hard way and from some way back. He'd know that.
We threw JW forward in the StKilda game at Etihad and whilst he didn't get a lot of it i noticed him taking charge down there, leading the talk about positioning etc. very impressive for a first year player

Why is Weitering's presence in a forward drill, or Charlie's in a midfield drill, suddenly a surprise? Presumably SPS and Cuningham are taking minutes in forward drills also, as are Rowe, JGM, Alex Silvagni and Marchbank.

We've smashed two trade/draft periods - and older players can start feeling teh heat from classy recruits scattered all over teh park and wanting their positions.
Bolton has a much better list to start working with than last year...
