I just arrived at the ground. Boys are out. I'm not really set up to do a full report but can do my best to answer questions.
When I arrived there were two groups: One doing half-ground match-sim drills, the other doing laps.
Stevo was unexpectedly near the front of the running group with a break on Goldy and Sheezel at the front of the main bunch. Free lumbering behind the pack.
Now they've moved to a drill marking, handballing, running and kicking in a square about 50m each side. Clarko overseeing everything with an eagle eye.
Anyone else here?

Is Thomas doing much?

Is Wardlaw doing much?

Haven’t seen Thomas - but could be confusing him for Bergman.

Wardlaw in everything so far. Right now there are two drills going on. One of them is split into 3 groups, one of which includes Cooper, Sheezel, Wardlaw and Howe, so keeping the new boys together a bit. Boomer focussing on that subgroup.

The exercise itself is a simple one practicing overlap run: Take a mark, one on the mark, one runs from behind, and receives a handball around the man on the mark. Wonder why we need to practice that...

That's Wardlaw on the right, Boomer in the middle.

Has Hamish Free worked out there's a shortage of towels yet?..

because we don't do it very well/often enough ;)

It’s about damn time.

I had to leave. Last observations:
  • Zurharr didn’t seem to be moving well. More lethargic than injured. He was near the back of the running group when I arrived.
  • Kearney seemed to be deliberately taking a back seat, watching and listening around Boomer and Ratten.
  • Monkey was there leading a marking drill with all the talls when I left.
  • There were a few that were in their gear but not participating in everything for whatever reason. No obvious injuries: Ziebel, Corr, Logue, WiPhi, Spicer, LDU. No need to worry but interesting to watch if there is a pattern.
  • George was there in his gear kicking a ball to himself, chatting to whoever was around and just generally soaking it all in.
  • Good numbers on the track overall. Didn’t see Thomas, and can’t recall Bergman, Hall or Lazzaro. I’ll have to go over the list but from memory think I saw everyone else.
  • Wells is absolutely tearing it apart. Can’t wait to see what he can do next year.

I've been to a few sessions since her announcement and I've yet to see Emma talk to a player in a drill or talk in general I think. lol

Role is very much to set cones, pick up balls etc by the look of it. Very much like the new 1st year apprentice on the job that has to earn her stripes before giving instruction and taking drills.

Boomer is definitely taking on more responsibility than previous years.

Lynch imo is on a similar level to Gavin Brown, if not higher.

He's instructing alot of the drills at training in general, even when Clarko and Ratten is present.

He comes across as having the confidence like he's going to be a high level coach in a few years I think.

Great observations and thanks for them. I observed, from the hour I was there, Wil Phil doing a power of work Friday so today might be a lighter day for him :)

Shiels, Turner and Howe make top 7. Reinforces the claims that they're here to lift standards, outworked a ton of their more talented teammates.

“Why did we bring in Hawthorn rejects Howe & Shiels plus Turner”

Lol

Many of our talented players do not work hard enough &/or aren’t developed enough
