I've said a couple of times I would like to see LMac in the midfield to provide a bigger body and harder defensive edge. The above result is another reason why he should. The few times he has played midfield he looks like he belongs.

Greenhead is past it and the kids are not ready yet.

Honestly wouldn't be against it

I think that’s why we’ve gotten in Tucker and Howe and at very worst Kayne Turner can play that role.

I personally think the way it will go is that we begin with Tucker in the midfield as our more defensive type and then slowly phase him out as Wardlaw begins to get fitter.

McDonald is our best non-tall defender and was our BOG in defence in a few games such as against Hawthorn in round 1, even though he’d be a good defensive midfielder he’s an ever better actual defender. A fit Phillips, Wardlaw & Tucker make our midfield a lot better defensively but taking McDonald out of our backline would make it considerably worse.
I don't see Lmac as just a stopper or defensive midfielder. I think he can accumulate in his own right and is a medium-long term solution. He has 4 years on cunners, so he will still be around a fair while after cunners is done. He also complements our young midfield coming through because they are all on the small side.

Personally my back 6 would have McKay, Log, Corr & Hall as locks. It would still be our most experienced line.
Then there are 2 more spots which could be filled by Scott, Perez, Goater, Bergman, Young or Dawson. Not to mention possibly moving Thomas or Slevo back. The easiest place to introduce youngsters into the seniors is hb. Plus we need more run & creativity out of defence anyway.

I only see Tucker, Shiels & Howe playing wing,hf or in the 2's. Tucker could be part of the midfield rotation if he is good enough but I just don't see it with Shiels & Howe.

Out of the youngsters, I only expect Phillips to get a truck load of time in the middle. And Goater maybe on the wing if he rips this comp apart in his second year. But thats not really relevant to this topic, I just like the thought of it happening.

Lmac & Thomas rotating between hb and midfield would be interesting.

I've been to a few sessions since her announcement and I've yet to see Emma talk to a player in a drill or talk in general I think. lol

Role is very much to set cones, pick up balls etc by the look of it. Very much like the new 1st year apprentice on the job that has to earn her stripes before giving instruction and taking drills.

Boomer is definitely taking on more responsibility than previous years.

I wonder if she’ll be sent off on the apprentice’s errand for a “long weight”.

What’s the deal with not releasing 2k time trials?

I’m obviously assuming it’s data so they opp don’t have insight into how long a player can maintain threshold speed. But the factors being testing, turf, footwear would all have impacts on the result. So does it really matter if they put a list of top tens? Surely clubs would have an idea that it would be between the 5-6 minute mark for the elite.

Or is it to stop players from being poached from Olympic track and field scouts…

There will be plenty of opportunity for him to rotate in there, but the team needs an elite rebounding defender (or a few!), I can see him working well with Howe who is a very physical defender. The midfield is not everything, you need excellence on all the lines. Some of those defenders are what sets the best teams apart.

On the results themselves, its before Christmas and so its not expected that all the older boys have been putting in big training loads - we seem to have some guys being load managed which might just be about some of them having a lower offseason program due to niggles and general shit that doesn't stop them from playing a season? I'm not an expert of this from clubland, and not trying to make excuses, but I assume some are beat up more than others at the end of the season and get told to not push it on the offseason.

Perhaps there is an extra bit of motivation with Jy and Luke too, assume they will be claiming the cap/vice this year.

I will say one thing for sure, they all need to up their game as all the positions have hungry young guys waiting.

Yeah I think its just default that all player stats collected by the club are not published.

However I think its also about ensuring they keep player progress and goal setting in house and out of the public eye because footy is already ****ing hard, and they don't want additional criticism levelled at players from the media and the peanut gallery - the club and the player know where they are at, why they are there, and where they need to get to.

I wish they would so us average joes can compare how far off it we are, and they have released some at times (there's an article about a weagles player who had a horrible time), but I think it's a club privacy thing.
