Cornes is looking like a bit of a better leader these days, but the thing that gets me with Trav is when he stands up for his teammates (see: http://i.imgur.com/wSYoCEp.jpg this kind of thing) which i never see Cornes do, or maybe i just don't notice it.

This always irked me about the tredders as well. Never really went into bat for his team mates. Great player but was so ridiculously a ball player that he wouldn't get involved in the physical stuff.Cornes is looking like a bit of a better leader these days, but the thing that gets me with Trav is when he stands up for his teammates (see: http://i.imgur.com/wSYoCEp.jpg this kind of thing) which i never see Cornes do, or maybe i just don't notice it.
Probably but there was no news coming out of the club that he was leading on the training track or off field and when he spoke in the media he didn't fill me with much confidence. As I said before, people change and grow and Travis has indeed done that. To me in the dark days it was only Jacko and to a lesser extent Schulz who appeared to be showing any real leadership qualities. Dom and the Cornes boys were floundering in 2011 and there was only minor improvement over the 2012 season, a solid start then a poor finish.

Yeah him and Bobby Carlile, but Bobby stayed hom to eat cheeseburgers and cake insteadReally? I remember reading about how he organised a trip for some of the boys, in the offseason, to push themselves harder, paid out of their own pockets. I believe it was in the 2011/2012 offseason.

Yeah that's what I came to this thread to comment on. A bit of North Korean-like rewriting of history.Wonder why they left out Primus
Benny Newton has been super this pre-season, as have Matty White and Jared Polec who joined us from other clubs in the trade period.
Robbie Gray has gone to another level with his knee as well, which is a really good sign for our forward line and midfield.
OK - people may ask why am I bumbing this? For one very great reason. While the cows are suffering and now whining about losing Dangerfield, our wonderful captain chose to stay... Yes stay. Lets not underestimate what he has done & the magnitude of the decision he made (originally) and then in extending his contract.
His family situation is far more than Mr. Arrogant down the road (ie a widowed mother) and yet, he has shown to be a true person of incredible fortitude and character. Love you Boaky and always will.
Yep heard that and thought good another outsider now gets it. Mind you last year when ABC Inquisition interviewed his mum on Mother's day and asked about his leadership qualities she admitted that she didnt see them as a kid growing up. Glad someone at Port did and they gave him ex Governor Rear Admiral Scarce as his mentor.Sounds like he made a fair impact on the documentary maker doing the chosen few 2 which explores the various afl captains. Just heard an interview where the producer was asked which captain surprised him the most and his immediate answer was Boak. Sounds like it's on this week Tuesday or Wednesday channel 7.
