Travis Cloke to Fremantle? 1 million offer?

Isn't Cloke available for the veterans list in a couple of years???

And doesn't that allow his salary to be halved???

If so why can't they back end his contract so he gets a fair chunk in the last year when his available for the vets list.

The Veterans rule is changing, clubs can only take off $100k per veteran after this season I think.

Jolly was signed for 3 years on big coin (surely around 500k/year). That contract ends this year and he'd be getting a massive pay cut if he stays on at all. That should give the pies some room to maneuver. But I doubt we will be able to offer more than 750k.

Cloke will have to decide if he is happy with that or if he wants more...

Why wouldn't they be able to?

By using FA - it leaves their other concession to poach another Pies player

Because that would be a perversion of the framework agreed upon prior to GWS's inclusion into the competition.

I would argue that the first player would be included under their one uncontracted player concession and any further players would be included under free agency.

Nice message Ross lyon has sent to the Freo squad. Simply after 5 rounds your not good enough.

Says alot bout Freo that they would make this offer 5 rounds into a season.
PEN1's a little obsessed about Freo, ain't he?

If GWS grabbed Cloke he would come under the GWS provisions, not free agency.

Yeah hands up who's shocked that Freo are chasing a quality forward?

Like has been said before, he's not likely to accept but I'd be pissed if Freo didn't ask the question at some point this year. Cloke might not get here but Freo are as good a chance as anyone for picking someone up with free agency this year.

Pure drivel comment:rolleyes:
Its a fair question. If you think every player on your list is happy about this your seriously deluded.

Is Ross Lyon already writing this season off?

How is he saying they are not good enough though?

We don't have a ture FPF other than Pav (and even that's debatable) and I'd guess the players know that, so what is the harm in them knowing the club is after a true KPF? Hell, what's the point of even telling the players who the club drafted as they are replacements for them at some point in their careers anyway?

Surely it would get others to lift their game - like if your boss said they were going to be expanding your department and look for a new head of your department, wouldn't that entice you to work hard and maybe get that head of department position?

Maybe that's just me

I heard a rumour that our recruiters were also planning on watching the U18's carnival with a view to *gasp* recruit even more players.

Season over for sure.

Ask Carlton how well rorting the salary cap goes ...

Freo have stuck a million a year on the table. Match it, or lose him.
I doubt it has to be matched. It will certainly take an honest and reasonable offer but the vast majority of players stay for less than they could get to leave let alone if they had to move interstate.

Swan, Thomas and Pendlebury stayed and I dare say they are on less than GC and/or GWS would have offered.

Pies will sign everyone and still be recruiting under free agency. I keep saying it because it is true. There is enough cap space unless someone like Cloke takes a $1.5m 5 year deal which would be understandable.

Can't see how Collingwood could afford to pay Cloke 700 or 800K. They couldn't afford to pay Leon Davis 300k.
They didn't want to pay Leaon Davis $300k and now they have the $200k they did offer to add to Clokes deal which will amount to around $800k pa and fit easily within the cap in spite of protests from Collingwood to the contrary as they preserve a bit up their sleeve.

Name two players that are unhappy on Freo's list and provide evidence for their displeasure at this news. Otherwise run along and join the mouthbreathers in Bay13, where they are more receptive to PEN1's opinions.

You are kidding right? Does he not think the guys on the list are good enough?

So you think that they should wait until the end of the season to try and recruit one of the most valuable players in the competition?

You also seem to think that premiers don't try to improve their list. If West Coast were to present Matera/Bennell with a contract today would you take that to mean they've given up on the season?

Something tells me that if this was offered by any other club you'd have a different opinion.

How could you possibly know theyve got an extra 200k to offer onto Clokes deal. I am pretty sure that when they resigned Pendles,Swan and Thomas they would have had to have found more money in the coffers than they were currently on and any extra they had wouldve gone into tieing up those 3 players contracts in order to keep them.
In any case Clokes offer wont be matched and will fall well short of what Freo are offering which would make him silly not to consider it. I think he would be the type to take the money and run if he was offered in excess of 1 mill a season

IM tipping after much speculation Cloke will stay, meaning in 2013 their top 4 players will hog well over 3 mill of their cap, causing player fallouts, players being traded and seeking trades and enough turmoil and unrest to see them miss the top 4 this year and fall in a heap and miss the top 8 completely next year.

Lol. Can't see the difference between an u18 player and a top liner who will be the highest paid player at freo

Why did woosha bring Chick and Stenglien into his squad ?

Lol Freo supporters. huge difference trying to recruit players at the end of a season and 5 games into a new season:eek:

And both chick and stenglein wanted to come back to WA before WC became interested. Freo are making a desperate bid for a player who has yet to even suggest he wants to leave Cwood.

No problem chasing him now, just means we'll have a better opportunity of going back to back premiers next year ;)

Also do you think that recruiters and list management team just sit on their "elbows" and do nothing until the end of the season ? Ben Graham was saying on the Game Plan last night that he was picked up and discarded 3 times in one season in the NFL.
