nothing to see here......move along!
I missed his first goal.
Great finishing work in the 3rd quarter.
Thankfully he seemed to kick the ball more in the second half. He is so damaging by foot after a quick run. It cuts them open. The run and handball not so much.
Christensen was better than Varcs tonight.
Zero tackles by the way.
Twice in the last 2 minutes he.......... oh I need to let it go.
Cometti said it perfectly tonight.
"You get the impression Varcoe has been underrated for so long, and all of a sudden he seems overrated"

He's not committing to tackles. I wonder if it's the shoulder?
Last year he was wrapping blokes up, so there's something going on in his head regarding contact.
No. Wait until we lose a game. Then we can really crucify him in true Geelong "supporter" tradition.

Ahh the old chicken V egg case of early 2007, where people claim that supporting your team unconditionally is more constructive than pointing out its flaws in the hope that they are remedied.
Joy.
I was trying to extract some urine ( to put it politely) due to the calls after a win for someone to be dropped. Or don't you remember this discussion after beating Collingwood.
Where's the "Hi, I'm 'soft as butter' Andrew Mackey and wish to be dropped" thread
Soft as butter, but knows where the goals are, could be a big liability in big games and finals matches when the games get extra tough.
Hardly touched it first half, then bobbed up in the third, then nothing in the last.
Those goals may save him, but weaknesses are glaring.

I never understand why so many supporters are defensive about players being dropped. It isnt a bad thing; everyone goes through form slumps, and it allows a youngster to get a couple of games. Us wanting Varcoe to have a bit of a spell arent suggesting he is a shit player, or that he should be traded or anything. Only that he needs to find some form, and the 2's is the best way to do that.
He was good tonight, but having an odd good game here and there isnt going to help us win another Flag. We need Varcoe performing those sorts of games consistently, and so far he just isnt showing it. He needs to play like that again next week, not wait three or four weeks before having another good game.
