And GWS history. Get the club who you acquired the player from to pay part of their salary rather then kick in extra trade assets. I.e. Griffin & Shaw.

Picks 7 & 62 (4th round) & Witts + we pay some of his salary for 2016, say, $150k like we did for Shaw, for Treloar.

What GWS get:

Pick 7 (1644) equals pick 4 (2,034 - 20% = 1628 points) on an academy kid. Jacob Hopper is expected to go around pick 5. So they get him with our pick. They use their own pick 8. They can than acquire Matt Kennedy from a pick 10 bid ( 1,395 - 20% = 1116 points) with their 2nd & 3rd round picks 28 (677 points) & 46 (331 points) and we throw in our 4th rounder pick 62 (123 points). 677 + 331 + 123 = 1131.

****ing deal.

GWS get Witts, Hopper (using pick our 7), Draftee (using their pick 8), Kennedy (using their 2nd & 3rd round picks and our 4th round pick)
They've used their 3 picks they have to use. It's a shallow draft.

We lose Witts (and a little cap space), pick 7 & pick 62 for Treloar

What is this points shit? Is that something new this year? Any links on how it works?

Well next year, Witts will be turning 24 no? So he's basically 1 season (2 at most) from entering his "peak". I'd say he's a perfect fit for GWS and they know it. He's from Sydney so there's no risk of home sickness. They'll have Mummy for one more season which means Witts establishes himself as the number 1 right as he's entering his peak period.

Seems like Pick 7(8) plus Witts should get it done. maybe another lower pick (to satisfy their points requirement) at most. I'm ok with that.

edit. Yep just checked. Witts turns 23 on Sunday. So he'll be 24 when Mummy is finishing up. Timing is perfect for all this imo.
Pick 7 plus Witts is overs, we'd need a 2nd or 3rd round or a Jack Crisp potential player in that mix.

Starting to get a clearer picture of the Treloar dealings.

Bucks was pretty clear Grundy/Witts was the future and would be persisted with.

Witts dropped all of a sudden.

Doesn't get back into the team.

Treloar announces his intentions, Caro believes a deal was done months before.

We are heavily linked to Kreuzer.

GWS say they require a bigger bodied ruck to support Mumford.

Says to me once we knew Witts would be part of the deal Bucks decided to go Grundy solo and see what our game plan would be without Witts.

Also Explains the large offer to Kreuzer.
I don't think that makes sense. You'd play Witts to increase his value at trade. Now he looks like an expendable commodity

Yep, new this year. The points system is used for clubs acquiring an academy player (Brisbane, GWS, Swans or Gold Coast) and for any Father/Son recruits. If they are tied to you, you can get them a 20% discount on the points required for the bidded pick by another club.

If you read the link it's pretty thorough and has the points in it. The agreed discount was decided at a later date and it's 20%.

Ed, I've watched a lot of GWS as I live in Canberra (so we are force fed their games on free-to-air), and I enjoy watching young stars develop their game. Shiel is a gun, I agree. If we could land him at the end of his next contract I'll dance a jig.

But Treloar is an excellent, excellent footballer. He has great goal sense, is strong in the contest, has lovely skills, is tough and competitive, is a ball magnet and seems like an excellent kid. He'll be hugely popular and a fan favourite.
Have to agree, based on the same force feeding.
I also thoroughly enjoyed seeing Heater get All Australian.
My youngest daughter and I go to as many GWS games as we can in Canberra....
I love it when she tells a bystander..."that's Heater, he's a Collingwood legend!".
Always gets a interested look and a knowing nod.

Every club does it though. The AFL knows it, and they're living in fantasy land if they think it doesn't. This is why I have no problem with the NRL system. I see no reason why AFL clubs shouldn't be able to sign players up mid season for the following season. I think us as a society has grown up past that now. Imagine if Daisy Thomas said in June "I will be going to Carlton next season via free agency but I will still continue trying my hardest to win Collingwood a premiership in 2012". At the moment so many GWS fans are furious at Treloar for saying he loves the club mid year, if he just said I will be at Collingwood in 2016 but for now my sole focus is trying to cement the Giants in their first finals series." and a deal would already be done and accepted for next year. I have no idea why everyone is against this. All these players are professionals, they aren't going to not try, they're naturally competitive beasts at this level that hate losing. Fans would like it more, players would like it more. imo
Yea but what if you kick the winning goal against your future side in a final, or worse the grand final? What if you have a shot after the siren to win and you miss? Everyone think you did that shit on purpose.
Only solution is you sign and leave go play for the other team immediately like the baseball. No messin around there.

They knew what they were getting if that is indeed the case. He did ruck against GWS as the sole ruckman, after all. And he held his own before Mumford went down...

Barrett on mmm said pies paying kruezer enough to get band 1 is part of deal with Carlton to help get treloar was something about early picks. Didn't expand further.

How exactly can they help us get Treloar? Sounds ridiculous.

Give us Pick 1;) Nah I think it would be giving us there 2nd Rounder for Something. 3-Way Trade.

So Going by Barret that Kreuszer to Collingwood is a Done Deal?

7+Witts for Treloar+Hampton is fair shouldnt have to add any extra onto it

I was told tonight by an extremely reliable source that this is exactly what it will be. Jumped on here to post it and saw this post. Pies will be pretty happy with it id imagine. I like Hampton, will be interesting to see what he can add to the Pies.

If she's older she'll get the joke, if she's in the middle she'll be impressed you could make the connection with her "trade", if she's young she can just rattle them with all her other toys....

I think what ever age this would impress.

No way.

If that's the outcome I will buy ten memberships for myself, ten for my dog and ten for my newborn.
