I've coached/assistant coached 11s to 13s. Have you coached juniors DemonTim?

If you had, you might know that the AFL level 1 coaches manual says this: "only bump when an opponent does not have the ball. If he does have the ball apply a tackle". Now personally I don't think it should be black and white in that.

BUT while I have always told kids to brace to protect themselves I have always said that you cannot ever bump an opponent high just because the ball is there. They hav a duty of care to others just like we would hope them to apply when they are bumping us. If one of my junior players drove into an opponent's head who was open like that I'd be wondering what that kids parents would think, and what I would think or my missus would think if it was our kid on the receiving end. If our kid delivered a bump to the head of an opponent like that frankly I'd be embarrassed, ball there or not.

He was going for the ball, just went lower and harder.

It is a moot point anyway. Even if he got weeks he still would have played, we would just gone to the high court just like Barry Hall and Dunkley did.

He would have played in the Grand Final regardless.

Obviously not familiar with the term "delayed concussion"... learn the game little man.
Obviously didn't watch the game and see the second heavy collision with Astbbury after the GWS medical staff left him on to continue playing.
Watch it first then comment.

Should've been rubbed out and if it had been in the regular season would've been. But the Vic boys club led by Jimmy Bartel ensured he got off. After all it was on an interstate player and getting off meant he would be available to play against an interstate team.

Yeah well suspending him wouldn't be in the AFL's homoerotic fantasy. Next year Melbourne will get a flag for participating too.

Well it won't be Geelong as you guys have proven you can't apparently win outside of Geelong. That and your current list play like soft ***** on the big stage.

Cotch was rightfully allowed to play. All he did was go in hard.

Brandon Ellis is the one that should have missed a week, but no one mentions him because it doesnt suit the childish "the AFL rigged it" agenda.

Get over it Crows fans, we smashed and embarrassed you.

Cotchin playing didn't really affect you guys, he didn't have a standout game on the day. What really hurt you was Jenkins walker and betts all being rubbed out before the game. If they had played it would have helped close the 8 goal gap between the teams and you may have gone close to making it a tight game.

Is that NSW born and bred fella still the pride of South Australia?

82 days later and you are still sad about the grand final......

Here's a tip for you Cotchin didn't contribute 8 goals we still would have smashed you

Time to move on folks. Plenty of players have got away with cheap shots.

Cotchin just joined that illustrious club.

Matthew Lloyd hitting blokes is cheap shots, going hard for the ball and unintentionally clipping someone is not

Someone hurt my feels.

Quick! Better see who they support and reply with something about them rather than follow the topic of the thread.

Classic bigfooty.

I originally said Barry Hall but you are right I changed the first part just for you, still doesn't make Cotch's bump a cheap shot

You could've used the ultimate example of a cheap shot and gone with Conca (or any other elbow to the back of someones head) and you would be right. It's not as bad as them, but it also wasn't isolated. Cotchin had plenty of let offs this year, and they all add up to give a picture of the player.

Cotchin the brownlow medallist due to a drug taking cheat.

Gold.

Well done on getting to the first part of the thread title, but it does go more specific than that.

The way you read, I'm sure you would get through some of the classic novels in no time at all.

It's amazing how teary you Bummers fans are still.
Just keep that chin up friend.

Cotchin is a brownlow medallist for realsy.
