Looks so much more natural in the back half. Good on the coaching for giving him a crack - I know I wouldn't have!
Yep, he's done as a forward. Backman or nothing for Trey.

I'd give him a full game over Madgen this week.

I thought Madge was pretty good. Can only remember one or two brain fades

Yeah he wasn't too bad, but Ruscoe looked just as comfortable when he came on, and he deserves a crack. We're in a rebuild, no harm in rotating the squad.

Why does it have to be an either/or scenario?

Because I want Sier and Ginnivan to get a game, and with only 1 forced out in Kelly, you can't drop too many players. Madgen can be the sub.

If Madg stays in, then Murphy gets dropped. Murphy MIGHT be in the side for our next flag push, Madg won't be. These are just 18-22 spot players, I really don't think it matters who plays there at the moment (in terms of winning/losing games), so I'd rather a youngster get a go.

Where will Sier play? C Brown deserves another game in midfield after his performance yesterday.
I would only make a forced change and keep the current team going for continuity.
Ginnivan possibly the unlucky one considering he has kicked what 4 goals in each of the past 3 games?

And Ruscoe is a surprisingly big and tough unit who has really good acceleration. Surprisingly he was recruited having played in defence in the WAFL, and looked far more comfortable playing off the backline yesterday.

Surely Gini has done enough, merit must be rewarded and development must come before ladder results at this stage of this season.

yes I agree, but you have just had a really good win and that helps development as well. It's not as if we have no inexperienced kids who played yesterday. I'm sure they will take alot out of that game and should be playing this week as well.

It's surely a high wire tightrope act lol.

From yesterday's structure in the second half, I'd keep Ruscoe in Murphy's defensive role. Move Henry to Murphy's/Kelly's and bring in Ginnivan. Sorry to Sier.

He has found his position as a small defender/half back.
He is hard at the contest and he hits the corridor kick.
This is where he will either make or break as a player----nowhere near the forward line.

Madgen has been very good recently. The constant mockery regardless of his performance makes the criticism seem personal and bitter rather than a genuine reflection on his ability.

Yeah, still not seeing it, replacing a defender with a forward or a mid. For mine they both stay. If you're looking for a player to omit to accommodate those 2 then I'd have thought Bianco the more obvious candidate for a rest.

Played his best game last night.
Hope he can go on from it.
Most of our youngsters looked good last night.
Bianco is getting his feet.
Kelly seems out of his depth still and injury prone, but I would never write of youngster too early.
I love Maynard.
If you could bottle his endeavour we would be all wearing flags to bed every night.
Champion.

One tiny thing that really impressed me from Sunday is the moment (about 9 minutes to go in the 3rd) where Aarts is charging down the wing with support and Ruscoe plays it brilliantly by not overcommitting and instead keeps stepping forward towards him and then backing off. It created confusion for Aarts who was looking for the easy handball overlap and forced him into taking a bounce. As soon as he started the bounce, Ruscoe goes straight at him, which causes Aarts to get flustered and he sprays the handball straight to us. We then take it forward and it ends with Thomas kicking the goal that kept us in the game.

I was sitting the other side of the ground and I thought it looked deliberate by Ruscoe but wasn't sure. Having watched the replay last night I'm definite that it was. Like I said, it was just a tiny moment but it ended up being pivotal, and good evidence that Ruscoe has a good footy brain.
