It ended up being released on later re-released "legacy versions" of Grace, which felt a bit tacky, cos it was in it's final state when he decided not to include it in Grace, and his mother respected that when she pieced Sketches together, obviously choosing to include unfinished songs before including Forget Her.

All the live recordings and re-releases got a bit tawdry when it was his record company doing it and not his mother.

Yeah ok, I always wondered why it wasn't on the album given it does sound so completed

All the concerns over the wide world of streaming, of tik tok artists et al...

And we've ended up with a throwback to the 2-disc changer era, where I've just got Billie in one and Charli in the other.

What is going on? We're entering the top 20 with a meme dance and a country music singalong.

Am I listening to Fox?

I'm not a country music fan, but they could've at least made Waxahatchee and Adrienne Lenker* eligible instead of this shit.

*More folk/Americana.

Saw her at the Northcote social a few years ago, one of the most devastatingly disappointing gigs I've ever been to. Her band didn't even play, unbeknown to anyone at all she just did an acoustic set that night (it wasn't an acoustic tour, she had a band out here, and the NSC had no idea that's what she was doing, they thought they'd booked the whole act.)

She made it pretty obvious that she didn't care, and then used the reflected lack of energy from the crowd as an excuse to only play for an hour.

i didn’t vote but off the top of my head my top 10’d be something like (in no order)

1) new species - iglooghost
2) j/d/f - hammok
3) ashes - asian glow
4) 365 - charli xcx
5) frownland - chat pile
6) bussit- joey valence & brae
7) blackwater - bloom dream
8) flowerfields - samlrc
9) 주마등 (A Lot Can Happen) - parannoul
10) sleep hygiene - uboa

agree with adrienne lenker, bright future was such a devastatingly good album

This could be a fun little bit of trivia coming - I think if Billie Eilish's "Birds of a Feather" comes in soon, and her song with Charli XCX comes in after that, they pass G-Flip's 1-year old record together. Charli has already drawn level, but they haven't mentioned it, probably in anticipation of Guess.

Ugh. I think we have a like a version in the top 3. Hate that. Not sure they should be eligible. Or maybe only the ones that I like are eligible.

Feel like Good Luck Babe will be #1

That wasn't obvious to you 8 hours ago?

I'm left having to hope it is this ratshit song, cos I don't think LAVs should be able to win. What an indictment on the year in music, especially when I don't believe people are even really voting for Royal Otis, I think they're voting for a 25 year old banger. In the midst of streaming and tik tok and brat and all that - Murder on the Dancefloor is Nostalgia in the same way that The Wiggles winning it was.

I don't mind Royel Otis, but this isn't it. A very mediocre cover of a pop classic. Glad it didn't win. I'm gonna be honest, Good Luck Babe is one of the better winners in recent years. Yes, it's mainstream pop, but given the direction the station has gone, I'll take it.
