Troy Taylor - Giving it Away?

WTF does being a law abiding parent have to do with upbringing? Tell me, want to go toe to toe with a guidance councilor on that? Will give you the number of a friend (will pst you the number), she will absolutely towel you for that garbage. You do know kids have independent thought correct? Here's a something for you to think about juvenile crime.

Recently, at mt buller 10+ private school kids (Melbourne Grammer I think) were done for shop lifting. All from rich families, they stole because they could. All the families are law abiding. I'll dig up the article if you like. Were they a product of bad parenting or good parenting?

Where do you get off on trying to draw assumptions between the parents law abiding and Troy's behaviour. You can have a great upbringing (even rich parents) and still go and commit crime.

I hope Troy does come back but if he doesn't, I wish him well for the future. But I know the essendon and melbourne fans don't, because they wouldn't be on here celebrating his return to NT.

For a start I didn't draw assumptions on Taylor's or Hurley's upbringing - It was UPG who indirectly claimed that Taylor's Mother didn't present a positive role model. I questioned UPG's assertion about Taylor's upbringing.

And it was UPG who compared Hurley and Taylor's brush with the law - Claiming that Hurley's offence was worse because he attended a Private School.

As far as I know Hurley and Taylor's parent/s are fine upstanding citizens.

Time to take off your Richmond blinkers and carefully read each and every post in a thread before writing ill-informed opinions.

This morning's report in the HUN is that Troy has "taken an extended break due to an indigenous cultural issue", and "hopes to return to Melbourne so he can prepare for the 2011 AFL season".

This latest news to return to training sounds more optimistic than was originally reported. :thumbsu:

You actually took the contrary position, neither of you were right. So don't try and make out you were on the high ground.

I don't know, but geez that sounds like a load of... to me.

If he actually had a genuine issue (parent sick, family trouble etc) surely they'd just come out & say that?
No actual quote from the man involved either.

So in your opinion we were both wrong/not right - And you chose to highlight my post ONLY and not UPG.

Like I wrote previously - Take off your Richmond blinkers.

Troy is not tribal like Liam Jurrah so therefore this is all crap!

And you know this how?

And why should he or anyone else come out and say it. We nor the media are not entitled to know the personal details of someones life and it is for this reason that we get half baked stories with no fact just theory and inneundo.

Let them be fir gods sake - they play footy not cure cancer. If he comes back great, if he doesn't then que sera sera

By the way, latest update is Taylor back at pre-season training. Obviously had to sort some issues out and is a work in progress. The club knew this when taking him on.

Apologies welcome by some in this thread (you know who you're). I'm sure you won't be crawling out of your holes though.

■ Troy Taylor returned from his extended off-season break to resume training with Richmond yesterday.

You just answered it: the only reason why they should disclose is to avoid the half-baked game of join-the-dots. Rumours, and the old "walkabout" tag, will now stick to this kid.
I don't feel a sense of entitlement; (I agree on that level); but I still get a slightly iffy feeling, since they've been so quiet about him coming back. If he had a legit reason, I reckon this would've been a presser.

I'm aware that a player (country kid) from another club went completely awol a few pre-seasons ago, and that was completely hushed up.
That situation is what's immediately sprung to my mind.

Michael Hurley did not go to a private school.

Thanks for the clarifying the situation.

Another case of UFG misusing his information to support his argument.;)

Tagged as going walkabout because he went home to sort out some issues what would you have labelled it and what will you label it should he have been white.

So 'personal reasons' isn't enough - we need to know the nitty, gritty. What a sad little society we have become.

He came back 1-2 weeks after the others, he is back in Melbourne training already, he didn't miss much at all.

forget the club he plays for, and anything off-field; I for one am thrilled to bits Troy has returned to footy, & I sincerely hope he can see it out & adjust to the life of a footballer in the big smoke, & I hope Richmond can provide an environment in which he can thrive.

From what I saw of Taylor, he looks a prodigious talent, & most certainly one of those players you come to the footy to watch.

He's so athletic, but with that sparkle of magic. He just looks that, in his mid-twenties, he could be an absolute beast with a magic wand. I wanna see that. Right now he's like a colt, and I reckon seeing him develop would be a treat.

As an opposition supporter I rejoice in Taylor's return. I just hope he doesn't carve us up too often :thumbsu:

Would like to see the kid succeed.

It was always going to be a risky move for Richmond, and they'll have to manage him carefully and provide a positive environment for the kid, but I applaud them for taking him when it seemed as if no other club was willing to do so.

He has been high maintenance for the Tigers thus far, but he certainly has the ability to become a gun player if he can put it all together in the coming years.

I'm pretty sure a conviction and going to gaol might move the goalposts somewhat. When someone has a history of making extremely bad decisions, you are bound to think of what could happen next.

Pulling out the old racist card works a treat though, how dare we ask a question of anyone not white. What a sad little society we have become.

Unless you know the full circumstances of the matters in which you are making comments on, I'd suggest you refrain from making such comments . I know about as much about you , as I suspect you know about Troy Taylor, nobody appears to be making judgement that your parents may have made a extremely poor decision in your conception or education, which has seen you be such a judgmental person ?

That's a question your going to have to pose to Slattery, I in turn just asked what 'tag' he would of placed on someone other than an indigenous player who had returned home and was questioning whether he wanted to remain in the game and then showed up for training again a few weeks later.

I don't have a problem with a question being asked regardless of race, religion, whatever and you can bet your bottom dollar if it had been court related then it would have been well and truly broadcast to all and sundry so obviously then we need to take it at face value that it was a personal matter and we weren't entitled to know - regardless of where the goal posts sit.

He peed off from pre-season training, he'll be compared to Sampi & Peterson & these guys.
I'm not saying that's how it should be, I'm saying that's how it is. Call me a pragmatist but that's what'll happen in pubs around the country.
I'd label him as either a bit of a slacker or a bit of a w***er tbh. I'm not fussed which.
I'd apply those same tags to 5 or 6 Essendon players and a good few dozen others.
Bottom line for me: if you miss training cos you're AWOL (like Taylor), or out on the booze (like Mark McVeigh): that's pox.

You seriously are one of the biggest knobs on BF, nowhere in a statement given by the club or a article written in a paper does it say he missed training because he rather spend a weekend getting pissed.

He had personal problems he had to deal with, if it was anything more sinister the club would of come out with it and dealt with it accordingly.
