Definite no to a night grand final. I just don't think a night grand final has the same atmosphere. Also it would be hard for the players to have to wait around all day before playing the most important match of their lives.

The Grand Final is not a home and away game though. It is the biggest game of the season and an entirely different kettle of fish. Besides, it would finish very late when factoring in all the post-match stuff, and I doubt this will satisfy the general public (particularly families) who want to enjoy their BBQs/parties. A night GF wouldn't please too many people and would thus be bound for failure.

A Night Grand Final, seriously? Imagine sitting around all day waiting for it. A day GF Is perfect, watch all the build up and then get pissed in the Arvo, evening and late into the night.

I must have missed the bit where it has been definitively established that a majority of football followers want a night grand final. You're allowed to have your personal preference, but don't go passing it off as being the wishes of the overwhelming majority when there is no evidence of that being the case.
In fact, if I think of most of my close friends, very few if any of them would rather a night granny.

Yep all those living in the 19th century better get used to the fact that the GF WILL be at night in the not too distant future!
The "night grand final" should be kept exclusively for the pre season cup. The grand final should be played on the last saturday of September....... IN DAY LIGHT.
Personally wouldn't mind seeing it played as a twilight match.

I think the night games rate higher because they tend to be braodcast nationally, and are usually not competing against other games.

2.30 is the perfect start time IMO. The event of a Grand Final is built around the Grand Final BBQ. A night grand final would be a disaster not just for tradition but for football culture.
As for ratings, does anyone know if night games rate higher more do to number of sets or number of viewers? An average day GF BBQ can have 20-30 people watching 1 TV.
