:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Up Yours 7.....You can stick ya better homes and footy flashbacks where the sun don't shine.

am trying to find this out as well. it seems so but doesn't explicitly say it anywhere.

the one game a week for t-box owners is not a good sign though

Pretty short sighted when you consider that internet based broadcasting is surely only going to increase over the next 5 years.

They will have to police pirate stream's, but they would probably die out to an extent if you could purchase a streamed game legitamately.

I thought the NAB Cup was finished, gone for good?

The deal is for the pre season comp didnt specify the NAB cup so if they come up with a new twist on it it will be shown on Foxtel

From Foxtel's website:

"...and they’ll have the option of watching AFL games on their mobiles, personal computer, Microsoft Xbox 360 or Telstra T-box,” said Kim Williams CEO FOXTEL."

http://www.foxtel.com.au/about-foxt...mprehensive-live-afl-coverage-ever-124765.htm

So yes, available on Xbox 360 - how much though, we need to wait and see.

Awesome deal IMO. Guarantees no 'blackouts' ie - Crows being shown on both free-to-air and Pay TV blocking out Hawks games etc.; all games in HD...cannot wait for this agreement to begin.

it wont be on Xbox, the same things that prevent it being on there now (its over IPTV and hence the legal domain of Telstra, and they want you buying the full monthly sports package and locking into a year plan) are still there

All games live and in HD. you bewty:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: Go foxtel:D
Does that mean Channel 7 will film all their games in HD? Even though the majority of audiences will watch them on their Standard Def channel.

Anyway these rights are a great deal for all those people with foxtel and a very good deal for all those without it. Particularly for those long time sufferers in the northern states.

Personally I can't wait to watch:
Live Friday night footy!
The Channel 7 Saturday arvo game that is delayed - Live on Fox!!!

Any chance the AFL can renegotiate the rest of this season?

Have to laugh at the Media Briefing paper released by the AFL.

"Near Live" new term coined to describe delayed. Did not want call the coverage into SA delayed.

I would have though that the new footy channel would have been a part of the HD package rather than the sports package even though it's already been mentioned to be a part of sports... forgive me I'm not too sure about it all, does that mean you need an iQ HD box

Sticking it right up 7 by upgrading the 7 coverage to HD:thumbsu:

Someone correct me, but at this stage I think it's only the simulcast on Fox from the Seven feed that will be upscaled to HD?

I think it will be the same quality that you see with replays on Fox Sports HD at the moment.

If you have the HD package, you have simulcasts of whats on the regular SD channels. (at least with Fox Sports and ESPN)

If you have the Sports package you'll get Fox Sports AFL.

In the detail, just one game per week live on T-Box

Devil in the detail. Didnt sound like that when they announced it

I posted this earlier it might help explain it:

However, live AFL on T-Box is only going to be available if you sign up to the Foxtel via T-Box package (apparently). It isn't launched yet, but it will be coming soon and it will work almost the same as Foxtel on Xbox. It will have a monthly fee, but will still be cheaper than getting Foxtel!

Edit: looks like others have explained it better!

- Fox Sports AFL - :eek::eek::eek:

The game is moving further and further away from being referred to as football. Foxsports marketing will bombard us with soccer ads during the telecast referring to it as football.

Hope/praying that it will all be done in HD. Thinking about it tho ch7 will probably do in SD and fox upscale. Ch7 always have been years behind. Last to go widescreen and no HD. Hate ch7:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

It's 99.9% AFL content, what else would they call it?

Soccer is football.

Lol. The neanderthals at LU are going a little silly.

Demanding that the NRL gets more.

I think you will find the expectation is for a substantial increase to anything between $800m-$1b. A billion is probably out of reach just for the fact it represents too large a percentage increase for the networks to justify.

RL is growing and s***s over every other sport in NSW and QLD when everything is factored in, with disposable income that growth will only accelerate

Fantastic result, all games on Fox Sports live, no more free to air bullshit for me!

Seven still screwing Perth viewers showing Friday games on slight delay I see. No more Ten is fantastic, no more Darcy, Lloyd, Blight, Quartermain Sweet!

I don't think the AFL got the best deal out of this.

Foxtel only has a 35% penetration rate in Australia. The vast majority of Australians still use FTA, yet there's been little improvement on FTA coverage.

The only difference for FTA viewers is that 3 of the 4 FTA games will be live.

The AFL are requiring fans in non-Victorian states to purchase Foxtel to watch the game.

That's fine if you're a massive AFL fan that needs to watch it every week, but an NRL fan is not going to go out of his/her way to buy a Foxtel membership to watch AFL.

So what further exposure is the AFL actually gaining in terms of expansion?

Essentially this deal is making current AFL fans pay more to watch the game they love, while making little inroads on expanding the game to non-AFL fans.

Apart from the dollar figure, I don't see much of a victory for our game here.

Great work Demetriou!

I'm glad others have pointed out how wrong you are, but as well as that, NRL fans have Foxtel already if they want to watch more than 3 games.
