Twenty20 Big Bash Round 2: Victoria v New South Wales @ Melbourne (Sat)

If we do not get quick wickets then NSW will dack us well and truly. Big pressure on Nannes and Pattinson to get the job done.

Our top order has looked very fragile and needs to fire if we are any chance. How the hell Quiney is still getting a game is beyond me.

Taylor was a last minute replacement for Victoria's Pakistani import (whose name currently escapes me) who was injured & therefore unable to play.

Sohail Tanvir... best slower ball in world cricket.

I like the sound of that, Wade's been in good form and I think he could explode tonight. Any reason why Maxwell was picked in front of Holland and McGain? Hope he does well tonight
Probably just for batting depth, is more of a batting all rounder and worthy of a spot in the side with his big hitting. Has a couple of very quick scores this year in the U/23 comp and for Fitz Donc in the T20, an exciting T20 and possibly OD player

My take on the game is basically as follows;

For NSW to win;

* Score heavily off the first 6 overs when batting, 65 runs minimum, without losing more then 3 wickets.
* Take early wickets against Vic's top order, bringing White, Bravo and Hussey in early, and making them bat longer and less aggressive.
* Use the MCG size to their advantage, loft the ball with most shots into open areas, even for 1-2 runs.

For VIC to win;

* First 10 overs can be little less then NSW's target, maybe 50 minimum, with loss of no more then 3 wickets.
* Early bowling has to be tight, even use spin early to restrict Warner and Jacques.
* Field well, NSW will give the Vics chances, but they will have to take them if they are to win this game.
* Come out aggressive. Biggest point here, Victoria in all it's recent 20/20 and one day games have looked "asleep" in the field or while batting early. Take revenge for the final loss last year, and fire up early.

Too hard to really pick a winner here, as the game could go either way, but if Nannes plays, I'll back the Vics, if not NSW wins.

Wade will be opening the batting in place of Quiney :thumbsu:

I like this, but it's kinda a catch with how we've been losing wickets lately and the tail scoring rather heavily Bob would bring his poor form down there and screw that up to royally bone us.

Hopefully the converse happens and Wade tears it up something shocking.

Wade is opening, Quiney is carrying the drinks
