People are forgetting if he’s going it’s for the $$$$$.
Tyson himself said he loves the club and his teammates, everything else has been media driven and speculation aka Tom Morris and Twitter “reporters”

Dude wants to get PAID and the reports are saying highest bidder.
If North and Saints are offering over $1M a season to go, he’d be nuts not to take it,
Or that he wants to live in Melbourne and get out Geelong?

This is true. It would be possible for teams like Saints, North Melbourne and even richmond to offer him 1 million a year to get him at 5 or 6 years.

Brad Hill is on his final year of a 5 year deal at the saints at $900,000 a year.

But yeah... $700-$750,000 a year to Stay at the cats would be a possible deal.

IF he wanted to still stay in Geelong (the city)

To be fair that sounded like a typical journo added spice up. It was literally a journo saying that living in Geelong "would be isolating" and everything from there was inferred.

It could be true, but the Geelong lifestyle was one of the selling points he listed when he chose to come here. Also the offers from outside of Geelong are reported to be 20% higher in dollars so he's hardly taking unders to leave

Kind of refreshing the non bullshit around this.

Stengel simply wants to maximise his earnings in his biggest contract of his career and has made it clear to clubs.

Respect the honesty tbh.
No need to hide anything when he's free to sign whatever he wants and will still be loved by cats fans regardless

Stengle could be a 2x AA on top of being a premiership player before turning 26. I think he’s the best small forward in the game this year, I think he’s worth the big dollars. Front ended preferably for the Cats. 850k-ish is not insane for whom might be the best small in footy right now

Should be Essendon’s and Carlton’s #1 target if Geelong won’t pay up.

His manager, Mrs Betts also said similar in her piece a bit back. And as far as we the public were told Betts joining the coaching staff was pretty much the main reason Stengle joined the Cats to begin with. He's back in Melbourne now.

Well he's signed one extension without Betts there so far

I want him at the Cats but won't be sour on him if he leaves for big dollars. I just hope we use those big dollars to lure a gun young mid to the side. He has been our best player this year and should be leading the best and fairest but if there is one spot where we can afford to lose from it is our small forwards.

Dude…no lol

He already signed an extension once with us and picked us in the first place over other teams stating “I like the quiet side of Geelong, similar to Adelaide”

This is and has always been about $$$, it’s not about success or competing.
Otherwise why would he leave the best football club of the modern era? It would be illogical.

He’s not taking “just a 100k extra” to walk. Anyone who says that is foolish.
If the Saints, North and Tigers offer him over $1M a year he’s heading in that direction.

do you expect him to say anything else?
He’s an unrestricted free agent.
He can walk wherever he likes, he has no obligation to be nice.

Dude won a Premiership with us, was instrumental in turning his LIFE around…not just his career.
It’s not just business, there’s personal relationships there.

100k is probably not enough, living in Melbourne over Geelong will probably use 50 k of that.

That was my point.
Think there might be a couple of Dons and Baggers hanging around that think he’s gonna walk for just a tad more.

Uh uh lads, if you’re getting a soon to be 2 time AA Small Forward, you’re backing up the dump truck for the money pit, if North or Saints bring out the WARCHEST it’s game over.

He signed an extension after winning a premiership, perfectly normal thing to do for most players. Since then we've heard from a couple of Journo's and his manager/guardian that there may be a touch of not enjoying the Geelong lifestyle and being away from the Betts' back in Melbourne. We're also going into July in a couple of weeks without really hearing anything along the lines of "he's expected to re-sign with Geelong over the coming weeks"

I obviously have skin in the game as I'd love him at the Blues, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think there may be some truth to the speculation.

I've said I'm comfortable offering him 950x5. And we've got more than a little hit of space in our cap too, don't you worry.

Think you're missing his point.

Geelong supporters accept that there is a huge possibility he's leaving...but we also accept that it's likely going to be to the highest bidder, which has been the narrative.

Carlton, Essendon, St Kilda...it doesn't matter, it's whoever is bringing out the $$$.

We rarely see it in our game, but it reminds me of NBA/NFL players who just want to maximize their earnings after they've won a championship.

Team success would be nice, but it's an afterthought in comparison to making big money once you've already got the medal in the sock drawer.

No malice at all, and wish him all the best. You only get one career.

Yeah fair points. I think we'll be outbid by Dodoro and SOS if he does have a wish to return to Melbourne anyway but I'd like to think he'd be enticed by crumbing to Curnow and Mckay for the rest of his career if we could offer a competitive offer.

Oh don’t get me wrong I think he’s worth it, just seen it in some places that people think 800k is enough.
Like no, he’s not walking out of a really good situation for 100k extra on what Cats could offer if there’s teams literally throwing money around in the same City, especially teams like Norf and Saints who have nothing to lose throwing around that cash. Instantly adding an AA level talent to their forward line with their huge cap space? It’s a no brainer.

Can see Dons doing it as he’s the elite small forward they’ve always wanted, they’ll pay up too

As Kobe Gryant so eloquently stated above.
It’s about maximising potential earnings on his prime earning years, very similar to many NBA/NFL players.
He’s already got his “ring” to speak NBA culture, now it’s about getting his payday.

But in midfield parfitt is average (and is clearly going at end of year)
Don't tease me like this.
I genuinely hope he does not play another senior game for GFC.

He's a draft bust at 26. Shai Bolton 3 picks later is so depressing.
Oh god, just seen Sean Darcy was after him too. FFS.
