It all kicks off this Sunday June 4, 11am (SA time) from Thebarton Oval - live streamed on the AFL website.

Here are the selected teams via Twomey. Maybe some kind soul will organise it into a lineup for us...by which I mean, please someone do it so I don't have to.

Thoughts and predictions? Leading possession winners and goal kickers?

Some questions to start people off with...why will SA win it all this year? How quickly will Ashton Moir prove the doubters wrong?

Predicting SA get a bit of a tune up here.

I reckon SA should win, the Allies do have some individually talented players though.

The SA backline of Patton, Evans, McCabe and Holt is as strong a positional group as any, so I would back them in to make things difficult for Jed Walter. If Talbot gets the job on him, I think he'll get a lot of help from the others zoning off. SA also have some decent size and ball winning ability in their midfield with McAuliffe, McShane and Wheaton - with Goad in the ruck and the size of their clearance players, I think they can break even with the more talented Allies mids in at the contest.

Ideally, we'll get a big game from Moir. But otherwise, just need one of Fawcett or Weckert to stand up and kick a couple to go with however many Delean gets.

I'm tipping a high scoring game, both sides have some firepower with the SA forward line in particular to be a handful. The Allies midfield may be the strongest in the whole champs and they have a terrific bunch of talls all over the ground.

Allies to win by 24 points.
Leading Possession: Ryley Sanders: (28)
Most Goals: Jed Walter (4.2)

Watch out for:
Van Wyk to crunch someone at some point and have them sent off.
Moir to take a hanger
The Caleb May + Colby McKercher highlight reel at stoppages.

Most interest I’ve had in the allies of any season because of our academy kids. As much as I want them to fall in the draft order, would absolutely love to see them tear it up on the big stage.

Allies by 16 and Walter to kick 3+

I would have Glanvill and Ollington in the team somewhere, but they weren't named in the squad

Words cannot describe how bad SA are playing atm. It's the weakest side I've ever seen them put up but doesn't excuse the lack of effort, arguing off the ball, hands on hips. Mentally they are on holiday atm, Allies are focused, clean and sharp and playing as a team which is ironic because tradtionally SA usually are the best team as a collective in years gone by. Not this bunch. Walter very dominant.

Easy inside 50s through free kicks and the dominant Allies mids are making life real easy for Walter. I don’t think Patton should have been the match up though, he should be the one getting in the way of his leads not chasing from behind.
