Fair play England. Doesn’t matter how you win, just have to find a way. It was rubbish but the way they did it they’ll take huge momentum from it. Switzerland certainly won’t fear them though and have played the much better football so far this tournament.

Cole Palmer’s attitude reminds me of a young Rooney, just so positive. Tell him to fill any role on the pitch and he’ll go at it like he’s the best in the world at it. Some player.

England got away with that one. They were poor for most of the game.
Its weird because they controlled possession, field tilt, etc etc but they took til nearly the end of the game to get a shot on target. Then an immediate goal in ET and they go into their shells.

Going to be interesting to see how they line up against the Swiss.
Trippier was poor besides the ball to Foden who couldn't stay onside.
Foden at LW has been a failure all tournament.
Palmer comes on and was a big spark.
Toney comes on and gives something as a target man and was stiff not to score late there.

England probably need to bench Foden, and decide weather you put Saka at LWF and keep Palmer at RWF, or do you keep Saka at RWF and put Palmer at LWF.

I assume Southgate sticks with the Foden/Kane/Saka front three but really he should consider starting Toney and bringing on Kane in the second half to run at tired legs. Kanes goal overshadows being completely missing for a good 85ish minutes.

If that's not the definition of against the run of play, I don't know what is.

Didn’t know the result before working through the mini match on Optus. Wow England have got away with one there. Fairly dour performance however they’ve advanced nonetheless.

Difficult to see how much further they can go with this kind of football, and being on the “favourable” side of the draw is still no guarantee. Was very impressed by Switzerland, that’s a tough match up.

This game is crying out for a goal. Then it might open up. One shot on target so far and it was a weak effort. France haven't scored a goal from open play in the tournament.

Good god, Belgium are dry. Slow, bland, pass around the back for two minutes. Genuinely shown nothing all game.

Saliba had Lukaku in his pocket all game whereas Belgium couldn't handle Muani when he came on. Belgium should have been braver and played De Bruyne further forward from the start.
