Hating everything about the club No. They still some off field things ok (Precinct, AFLW, debt reduction, museum), but anything footy related is sub par mediocre, and deserves criticism.
Abusing the club on social media Balanced perspective. Do when I feel it's warranted, which is a helluva lot more than it used to be, but can see both sides (sometimes!!!).

Time following Port - from around 1963 onwards. Member since 1979. G/grandfather and his brother played for Port. Dad born and raised in Semaphore.

I've been a Port fan since 1979, and I've never been more disengaged than I am right now. Whatever happens in 2025, I won't get remotely excited or downcast, unless by some miracle we win a preliminary final.

Time following Port - had a port magpies jumper in about 1990 when I was 6. Alternatively, when Port entered the AFL. 34 years or 27.

Attending home games ✅ - until I die, I won’t let the current crop take that from me.

Merch ❌ - The merch is just shit, which is a shame as a few years back it was fantastic. They’ve gone too Y2K for my taste, an awful time for merch and fashion. Also too much teal.

Watching on TV - ❌ with those commentators and bullshit? **** no! Though if we win I’ll watch the next day.

Hating everything about the club ✅ - they don’t really want fans like me. Until they do.

Abusing the club on social media ✅- I post Sack Hinkley on any thread I can be bothered to be attacked by middle aged women (it’s always them) on.

As long as I’m a member and go to games I reckon I’m entitled to abuse the club on social media! Those abusing me usually don’t even go to games.

They are the only fans I’ll ‘judge’, happy clappers who don’t actually turn up. But tell everyone else to enjoy the shit sandwich.

The Tredrea vote had the club and media lining up to potshot Warren at every chance. If they'd have thought they could get away with it, they'd have accused HIM of killing greyhounds. I think that says the majority want Hinkley gone, but it's a 55-60% majority, with many wanting him gone, but not invested enough to stop going like many here. Since many of them are still going the club thinks it's a combination of they are on the right track so ignore the 'White noise' and they don't care as long as they keep paying.

They wouldn't be giving out free memberships and tickets all the time if this was the case. We wouldn't have the propaganda machine in overdrive.

I also don't agree that tens of thousands of fans are happy with what the club are serving up. That's certainly not reflected by my experience of speaking with other Port fans in Adelaide. The vast majority are over it and want change. Home games have the atmosphere of a funeral in most cases. Until the Hawthorn final I don't think i'd heard a "power clap clap clap" chant in 2 years.

Anyway:

Thanks for that, some of those points you made helped me make my mind up after quite a bit of time agonising over things. Especially that in bold lol. As for "connected" pretty much the same as you so I'll start with a shameless cut and paste lol.

Season ticket ✅ - Will renew 2 seats in 334 that i'll never get back if I give them up, and I'll be sitting in them when Koch and Hinkley are in their cold cold graves.
Attending home games ❌ A few each season, when visiting from SYD, but I always get bums on seats. Maybe that's because I know a lot of bums in ADL.
Merch ❌ - not for years unless it's heritage stuff. The teal-centric AFLW members scarf gets a lot of positive comment here in SYD. Maybe it's just the contrast relative all that red-white and orange-grey stuff.
Watching on TV - 50/50, at the local "all AFL games" pub mostly. Sometimes a few quarters of a replay but that's usually after some "wat happen Port?" trying to figure what went wrong assisted by the expert comments here on BF :drunk:

Time following Port - Been following since 1974, been through the glory years, the ruthless years, being hated years and now hate the stench of this club, hate other supporters laughing at us or pitying us, hate everything about the pricks running the club but yet still love the club. Barely missed a home game or a game in almost 50 years and now im happy to not go nor listen.

Season ticket ❌ see membership.
Attend home games ❌ the first year since I started following that I haven’t attended at least one game.
Merch ✔️ have been gifted a new hat and a couple of jumpers. Missus was desperate to get me something from the kids for my birthday.
Watching on TV ✔️ Still watch most games but don’t put off other things so I can watch it live.
Hating everything about the club ➖ hate is a strong word. Lack of care is more accurate.
Abuse on socials. ❌ no point white noise and all that. Also I know someone in the social media dept so wouldn’t inflict anymore on her.
Time following: since 1998 (member and didn’t miss a home game from 2000-2019) Never felt more disengaged than the last 3 years. Change is well overdue.
