Back when the NRL split, the AFL shored up it's position to prevent just that occurance.
Sure, we could leave, but we couldn't keep the name, the jumper or the song...The AFL owns the rights to all of them.

My mate's parents also Holiday with Cotchin up in Echuca and are close family friends sponsoring him through his junior career. The more and more I hear rumours like this that I think are true given the fact that you mentioned his parents holiday in Echuca, which I know to be a fact makes me think he has gone. ABSOLUTE bastard if he has. 3 years with us and he has bailed we would need a top 3 pick as compensation....this is absolute bullshit!

I wouldn't lose hope of Cotch wanting to remain at Tigerland, take Nathan Buckley for example that crawled over broken glass to get to a traditional Melbourne club to avoid the hollowness of playing amongst 4500 fans at a fledgling club...there wont be much diff in the money offered considering the current heirachy at RFC
