If sending GC17 annoying emails actually works and the team wears mostly gold i could see them being called (unofficially) something like "the golds"(like the adelaide reds)
are there any good name's that could incorporate gold?

Gold Coast Rush.

Thing is, 'rush' is interpreted as the rush to the gold coast lifestyle, growing population, etc, like the lifestyle itself is golden....also 'rush' as in living on the coast is a bit of a rush, adrenaline rush.

If you guys like that, have someone draw up a logo and we'll bombard the GC17 with more emails.

someone suggested that trying to relate it to the gold rush and people just told him the gold rush had nothing to do with the gold coast.
i was trying to get some names that would just be yelled out by the crowd, not ones that the club would actually use officially.
if you had the team wearing mostly gold these nicknames would be based on that.

well north melbourne are unofficially known as the shinboners
adelaide united in the a-league are unofficially known as the reds
i came up with the golds but thats boring but i think it could be built on
 
ok, i get you now.
well, let me think about that then.
a name like "shinboners" is great, but GC has no history, so to come up with a cool name like that we'd have to harken to something...this is what i'll be trying to think of, something to harken to!
things like reds, golds, etc, is too boring.
 
Don't know if it's been mentioned but what about the Gold Coast Gladiators!
 
I Still think Gold Coast THUNDER has the best ring to it. Who cares about Peel Thunder. This is a firsts AFL side and THUNDER is the best name by far for a Gold Coast side.

IF storm wasnt tade marked Gold Coast storm would be good too.

too much like "power" imo. seeing as they use lightning bolts in their jumpers/logo

Gold Coast Koalas?
Gold Coast Suns?
Gold Coast Fire?
Gold Coast Chieftains?

I reckon Sharks and Fire are probably the best of these. I also think that ones with like the same letters (e.g. Hawthorn Hawks, Port Adelaide Power)
sound better and are more catchy. I like Gladiators. So far that wins for me.

They wont use the name Sharks which is synonymous with Southport.

And what the hell is a Chieftan anyway?
 
dipper just reminded me on "essence of the game" that gladiators took on lions. gold coast GLADIATORS vs brisbane LIONS. i think it works.
