What makes him Bryce McGain-like as opposed to Boyce, Zampa etc? Intrigued.
Whenever I've seen him play against the likes of Smith or any other international quality batsman he's been taken apart. Zampa is younger, more accurate and could develop to be better. Boyce is my favourite, he gives the ball a big rip and has good flight and dip. Needs to work on his wrong'un but otherwise I'm very excited about his future.
Ahmed has been sensational in the Big Bash. Muirhead can't even get a game (and only got one before Hogg was fit).
Muirhead is unlucky to be traded to Perth. If he was at the Renegades he would comfortably be ahead of Ahmed. He and Boyce are probably 2 of the best 3 spinners in T20 in the country, Muirhead just got traded to the place where they have the other of the 3. Muirhead>Ahmed in T20's.

I disagree with the bolded. Did you watch the games Muirhead played for the Scorchers? Easily our worst bowler.

Cummins is easily the most marketable, absolutely. Not the point I was making though.

i know that. you were saying the listed will be better than cummins as bowlers. i guess im taking a slightly different angle adding selectors and CA to the equation.

He played one bad game in T20's. His work for the Stars and Australia were better than what Ahmed's produced.

In Baseball terms Cummins would be a top prospect.

Who knows, those four bowlers mentioned may be better players (Patto is a gun in his own right). I would say Cummins has the higher ceiling of that group though. When you can bowl 150 km/h at 18 you have a bit going for you, so obviously they are going to invest time in seeing how good a player he can be.

FWIW I though Cummins bowled quite well against South Africa recently (esp. T20's, showed effects of lack of bowling in the ODI's I think). I don't rate Sandhu that highly, and haven't seen enough of Behrendorf (who does seem decent).

That's one game. Not everyone performs every game.

He has to get more chances and then you'll why he played T20Is

Behrendorff seems like the ideal 3rd seamer for Cummins and Pattinson. He swings the new ball, he swings the old ball, he can bowl long spells with control and would be able to help the pair out.

I'd love to see those three play tests together. They're the perfect trio

No way, Maxwell is not a test batsman. He is a good short form player, but he will never be a test batsman.

I agree on Pattinson and Behrendorff. Starc possibly. Sandhu no

I don't think his batting could ever be in the top 6 for Australia.

Boyce and Muirhead are more likely to be the next test spinner IMO

Just on the Maxwell call, consider the following..

2013 Aus A v South Africa A in South Africa
made 155*

2013/14 for Victoria his stats were:
7 matches (12 innings)
544 runs
Highest score: 127
average: 45.33
100's: 2
50's: 2

that was the last time he had a semi good run at the long form of the game. After that season he was travelling all around the world playing in all short form games.

He has said himself that he misses the red ball version of the game and can't wait to get back to it as he felt he was finding some good form which the above stats would suggest.

if given the right opportunity he could definitely play test cricket. But the way Cricket Aus continue to use him, they will never allow him the chance to do it.

Then the times he has been included in the test team (in India) he was put up to number 3 by Boof and told to go and play his natural T20 style game. But of course that part of the instruction never made it out to the media and Maxi was made to look like it was his call to bat that way.

If Cricket Aus decided to put him in a test squad and say right, you have 5-6 tests to show us what you have got, bat him at 5-6 and let him take his time like he wants to instead of telling him to play bash and crash, i think they would get a great result out of him.

Zampa is miles ahead of Muirhead in FC cricket.
At the moment yes, long term I could see Muirhead developing into a test standard legspinner.

Pattinson, Behrendorff and Hazlewood for me. Bird could also be somewhere in there. They would work well together as an attack IMO.

Seriously, how good is our young fast bowling depth?

There is going to be some seriously unlucky guys in the next 10 years, good enough to play test cricket but not being able to get the opportunity.

On this thread people underestimate the difficulty of being a test quality leggie. Incredibly rare, because if you're just average you will generally be pumped by test class batsmen.

I have Hazlewood way ahea dof Starc, Sandhu at the least, probably Behrendorf also (as I said, haven't seen heaps of him). Patto, Cummins and Hazlewood.

Yes yes im surrrrre it was the captain and coach telling Maxwell to go for the tonk in the UAE when we were collapsing and scratching runs out. It wasnt Maxwell's stupidity it was definitely an order from the higher ups

you can say and think what you like, i'd back my source over anything you may have any day of the week.. btw, never said anything about a captain saying anything.

you would be surprised what is said and done that never gets mentioned in the media. am i going to reveal bits and pieces? No, in fact i possibly already said too much already with the instructions he was given.

up to you how you want to take it, but im very comfortable with what i know about the situation.

I know the commentators like to credit his healthy lifestyle as the reason for his fitness and rugged good looks, but I'm a firm believer of the controversial opinion that Peter Siddle is superhuman. Analyse the photos below and decide for yourself. Wake up sheeple.

Reckon there's a fair few test centuries in a Pattinson/Starc/Cummins tail as well.
I've never seen Cummins do anything other than look like a mug with the bat yet he always gets talked up. Even in his first Test he was very lucky to survive that Tahir LBW shout, but then he put away one long hop and now he's a star. :p
