I too wouldn't blame him as he has carried us since he returned from injury but i would still be disappointed in him as he is captain and i don't want another captain to leave especially after one year in the job.

I also believe we are only one or two very good or world class players away from winning the title as well as a bit of luck with injuries. Like i look at spurs and they haven't had a lot of injuries this year and when they have had injuries there players have only missed a couple of weeks of football. Yet where missing jack who is better then bale, have had sagna and santos out for 3 months and diaby has played two games for the whole year.

Hopefully we can pick up another winger whether that be hazard or mertens if not hopefully pick up eriksen. This would add to the wings or midfield, then i would be getting another centre back like vertonghen. That would give us 4 very good centre backs and our starting wing men would look like this:
new player-Rvp(if he stays)-ox
with theo and gervinho on the bench.

Then we should have campbell with his work permit and ryo improved after his loan spell with bolton as well as afobe who looked good against new york bulls in pre-season but has been injured since. Then hopefully ozyakup and eisfield can come up from reserves, ozyakup i rate very highly and should already be playing and eisfield looked good in his outing against swansea. These guys will add extra depth.

Theo would be a good player at a mid level Premier League team. When he plays teams that dont just sit back he is much more effective. If he played a team like Stoke or Liverpool he would have better statistics.

Good point teams no to just sit back against us and we struggle to score especially as we lack the person that can play a killer pass.

hmmm, would Theo be willing to do that though? I can see the logic behind it. The old 'one step backwards, two step forwards' type of thinking.

I'd like to see how he goes partnering RVP up front. Formation/positional change might help him. Gervinho, Arteta, Song and OC as the 4 mids?

i've often thought we need to change our formation, but cant see wenger doing this as he wouldn't admit that there is a problem currently. but with one striker supported by 2 flankers, we will never be able to attract another A grade striker as they will be benched behind RvP (assuming he stays)

no one would want to come and sit on the pine. that's why we such an enormous gulf between the quality of our striking depth. we have RvP who is A grade, but then his back up consists of park chu young (C/D grade) and chamakh (F/Z grade)

its rare to find players who have the quality to play up front or wide on the flanks. podolski comes to mind

Santos is not a LB that should be starting for a side such as Arsenal. He doesn't have the defensive ability to his game, like Sagna. He's lazy and struggles to track back. Obviously, if these two were sold, replacements would need to be brought in. Yeah he was doing okay, but he was at fault for quite a few goals.

Pep to Arsenal?

It's an interesting prospect glen. Whether they do it or not is another matter.

Almunia, Squillaci, Djourou, Santos, Gibbs, Arshavin, Diaby, Denilson, Rosicky, Walcott, Chamakh and Park should all be sold.

Agree with all of this but would think we'd likely need to at least keep one of Gibbs/santos. This could all amount to nothing though as for a cleanout of this magnitude to occur, you'd think that it wouldn't be wenger at the helm (in the sense that I doubt he would sell so many players as it would be seen as an admittance that his methods have failed)

However a new manager you would think would blatantly see the deadwood that takes up considerable wages in our squad and do something about it.

I prefer santos to clichy who couldn't cross to save himself, clichy was a good defender but made some stupid mistakes in big games and gave away a fair few penalty's.

Wenger has tried to get rid of the deadwood but no one wants them and they can't afford their wages.

You'd just hope that something changes at the Emirates soon.
Otherwise we will be treading water mid table (at best) next season.

Clichy a good defender? WHAT?

Clichy has been pretty good for us, wasn't sure when he signed but I'd put the signing down as a success. None of the brain fades that became commonplace in his last few years at Arsenal.

I suspect he is allowed to focus more on the defensive side of his game at City without being expected to join in the attack side at will.

Clichy is a good defender. Hard to replace someone like Cole at Arsenal but was always in the top 5 LB's in the league imo. Was judged against the absolute best, but even though he falls short, he is still good imo.

Clichy started well and had a few good seasons. It appears he never recovered mentally from that Birmingham game. Such an eventful game with Eduardo's injury, gallas losing his sh*t, clichy losing his sh*t and giving away that ridiculous penalty in stoppage time etc

A lot has happened overnight.

Arsenal Shareholders Trust Meeting was held. Here's what someone else took from it.

  • Club has asked for the fans opinion on ticketing and increasing prices
  • AST says no to board for ticket price increases next season
  • 400 Season Tickets are used once or less in the season
  • Discussion on if cup credits should be included in season tickets
  • Talk of variable ticketing prices... Tiered for different matches
  • Club Level renewals for next season will be going out in the next week or so
  • Arsenal have equal largest ticket revenue with MUFC in Europe
  • Season Ticket renewals have lagged last few seasons, deadlines of Jun 1 have gone to early July
  • We'll get hit massively hard with no Champions league because of expensive seats lacking appeal
  • Only 1 in 4 of the ST waiting list took up the offer of a season ticket last year. Went up to 11,000 on waiting list
  • AST members stating Stan isn't fussed about investing here because TV rights can't get taken away from you over here. They can in the States
  • Transfer profits stand at PROFIT of £55m
  • Initial sale prices: Cesc £29m, Nasri £25m, Clichy £7m, Eboue £4m, Traore £1m
  • Club runs at break even and player sales are our only profit.
  • Stadium debt at £220m
  • £54m spent in summer on players Arteta £10m, Gervinho £11m, OC £12m, Mertesacker £9m, Santos £6m, Jenkinson £1m, Park £3m, Campbell £1m, Ryo £1m
  • Wage bill stands at £130m
  • We have 4th highest wage bill in the EPL
  • Arsenal will have increased revenues by £10m in the reported year. But essentially stripping out player sales the club is break even
  • Cash position of £160m, some of that goes into a debt service account
  • Arsenal have approx £50m available in cash for use
  • Still £35m in cash due to be received for Queensland Road likely to be received in next 6 months
  • Arsenal have confirmed that the £50m in cash available. But the business model is sensitive to ECL participation
  • £45m is the cash we get from Champions League - leaving us with £5m cash if we don't qualify
  • Arsenal could fall foul of Financial Fair Play rules if we get no ECL as we will be loss making
  • We get £14m from shirt sponsor/manufacturer (by contrast Liverpool get £40m)
  • Arsenal financial report due Friday or Monday, depends when club prefers to release it
  • AST member says board have got rich off self sustaining business model
  • No official set salary cap at the club
  • We have major self sustainability issues if we don't get ECL, so £50m cash + £35m Queensland money will likely need to be used to buffer
  • AST asking for 5% discount in club stores for season ticket holder incentive
  • Board said no to Usmanov because other board members couldn't weigh in - namely Stan
  • Arsenal have 71 players on the wagebill (Bendtner is paid £52k pw)
  • Average attendance of low fifties these days
  • There remain 1200 shareholders in Arsenal owning 3% of the shares
  • Usmanov is building towards his 30% - under EPL rules he would be described as an owner, as such he would have to sign off Arsenal books
  • Club don't want R&W on the board. They have expressed to AST they will not cooperate at all with Usmanov or R&W.
  • Arsenal say more Arsenal fans in Nigeria than in the whole of the UK
  • Wenger was at fault for the Mata deal failing as he is the only one that decides value
  • AST trying to get Dein to come to a meeting. Dein still attends every game at Emirates. Dein spends more time with Wenger than Ivan does
  • Wenger was handed full control after Dein was marched out.
  • David Dein always fought Wengers corner on the transfers he wanted, while Keith Edelman made sure all the money isn't spent.
  • Since Dein left, Wenger has been alone in trying to get the transfers and fighting his case for transfers
  • Situation meant Wenger become nervous shopper. Dein would bring transfers to Wenger whereas now Wenger has to do work on negotiating himself

This club is full of contradiction and hypocrisy. As long as the board have their heads in the sand, we will only head south and become worse. The way the club is run is pathetic.

The loss of David Dein is what hurt us most.
