Debuchy rumours have intensifed but nothing is never certain with us. Given our squad needs, basically any RB, DM, striker or goalkeeper is linked to Arsenal.

And just on Debuchy, whilst not at the level of Sagna, he would be a decent replacement. But still would cost £8-10m and would want wages in the £60-75k mark I would've thought. It's all irrelevant now, but wouldn't it have just been easier to give Sagna the extra £30k a week rather than the considerable outlay for a new (and inferior) RB.

I'm no Debuchy fan (prefer Aurier) however he is currently starting over Sagna in the World Cup.

Arsenal have tabled a €40 million bid for Alexis Sanchez as Arsene Wenger prepares a charm offensive to land the Chile World Cup star ahead of rivals Liverpool.

The Gunners boss will meet Sanchez's agent in Brazil this week to convince the forward that he should move to the Londoners ahead of the other clubs competing for his signature.

I don't know what's more annoying -

1) The absolute silence that is our transfer news or
2) Liverpool fans and their fantasies
It really is 2....Worst fans in the whole league.
Best moments last season was winning the FA Cup and after that was watching Crystal Palace detroy their title dreams

Goal.com is hardly the most reliable source but John Cross has run with a similar story in his write up overnight.

Hopefully Sanchez is not this years version of the Higuain/Suarez saga.

I'd say there is honest interest.

But Arsene will have his price and won't go a penny over.

Then again, who seriously would have thought Ozil would join us? Wenger charmed him so I think he'd be able to do it again.

Alexis Sanchez is making me nervous......can't sleep, Wenger won't big high enough, can't sleep, Wenger won't bid high enough.

Reports saying that Debuchy has told French Radio he is joining us. Fee in the region of 8-10m

Won't believe it until I see him holding up an Arsenal shirt on the official site.

Sanchez, I won't get my hopes up for. We've been burned too many times!
Has to choose between us and Juve according to AS.

Worth taking into account that he's previously played in the Serie A with Udinese.

I'm approaching the Sanchez rumours with zero expectations. We've been taunted and teased so many times beforehand. Mata, Higuain, Suarez, Draxler to name but a few.

There's every chance the next Kim Kallstrom will be announced instead on August 31.

There was an interesting comment from Jackson Martinez when being asked about being an Arsenal supporter and playing for them.

“I know that there have been discussions, but still no agreements,” said Martinez. “My agent is taking care of my future, right now I’m at the World Cup and only after the World Cup I’ll evaluate proposals.”

He has a release clause of 35m. Could possibly be a back-up if a Sanchez deal cant be done?

Do we plan on playing Sanchez as a striker or winger?

The man can do either. That's the beauty of him.

Walcott would still be a few months away from returning. Sanchez would slot straight into the line up.

But Remy could also offer the versatility of playing from a flank or through the middle, and would be a quarter of the price.

It would give us some interesting options.

Giroud, Poldi, Yaya S, Walcott, Sanchez, Campbell, Ox, Cazorla, Gnarby

Sanchez offers both great ability wide or as a striker.
Giroud is an out and out forward.

Ozil can play out wide but i believe he's wasted out there ala Germany. He really needs to be central.
Poldi doesn't really suit the lone forward role.
Walcott doesn't really have a great skill-set apart from pace.
Yaya should really be loaned.
Campbell is still unknown - he can be great or a flop
Ox will move more centrally this season.
Cazorla is still hit and miss out wide IMO.
Gnabry is still raw.

I'd like us to pick up another out-and-out winger is we get Sanchez.

If Sanchez is acquired I foresee that one from that midfield/forward group will be sold. Podolski to me would be the most likely.

Sanogo should be loaned out regardless along with Ryo, and possibly Gnabry too if Campbell comes back to the club as expected.
