We don't have wingers good enough to play a proper 4-4-2. Ox and Walcott both need to work on their dribbling and ability to consistently beat their man for it to work.

I would prefer Danny over Giroud.

Giroud's hold up work is invaluable against teams that defend in numbers.

Giroud's hold up play suffers without the right players around him. To get the best of out him, we need Walcott and Ramsey fit and firing with him.

Overall, I feel Welbeck suits our style of play better than Giroud does. Interesting to see what Wenger's preferred option is - but I get the sense Welbeck was never really wanted in the first place.

So, we finally have an amazing South American magician.

The elite of elite player, hopefully we can hold on to him and build a world class team.

I, for one, welcome our new overlord.

Our defending isn't overly bad, we've conceded just one more goal than both City and Chelsea. Hell we have the 5th best defence in the league on goals conceded.

It's our attack that's dropping the ball. We have 60%+ possession in games but fail at turning it into anything. That's why we keep getting sucker punched. We are currently +7 goal difference compared to +10 City and 16+ both Southampton and Chelsea. West Ham and Everton have also scored more goals than us so far.

It may not seem like much but adding just another 3 goals turns some of our 5 draws into wins.

Cazorla, Ox, Arteta, Flamini, Wilshere, Ozil and Ramsey are all down on their production last year (With Walcott only just coming back)

Flamini and Arteta especially rob us of any other creative outlets when they both play together.

Sanchez is our only consistent spark forward atm and that's the biggest worry.

Yeah I agree that this is pretty on the money

We have too much possessions in some games. On the weekend it was 80% deep into the first half. When that happens the team just pass the ball around and don't really create any good shots at goal.

I actually thought we created some decent chance on the weekend but our finishing was just awful.

There's no point having pace in your team if you're going to dominate possession and persist with the slow passing.

We seem to only really show urgency if we're chasing a goal in the last 20 mins. It infuriates me.

Sometimes I hope we concede a corner just so we can attack on the counter.

There was some weird stat posted up on Arseblog by 7amkickoff on his By The Number page a few weeks ago stating that Arsenal had the highest number of blocked shots out of any team in the Premier league so far this season.

He put this down to the fact that most of our shots seem rushed and from very poor positions but there has been a distinct increase in the number of them being taken this year compared to last.

And this is why we get killed with teams that either press hard and fast or get choked by teams that defend deep in numbers.

We made a serious play for Cabaye last season I believe. Somewhere around £10m - the best part was that the bid was made on the day of a Newcastle game and it enraged that campaigner Pardew.

Quality player, would be an upgrade on our current options no doubt.

Saw this and thought it was amusing. Little bit of light hearted fun:p

So, Anderlecht in the morning. A game we really should be winning at home. A win should also be enough to progress to the next round if Dortmund bring their CL form and not their league form against Gala.

Looking for a big result from the boys tonight.

We've now gone 4-1-1 in our last five games including winning the last 3 in a row. A nice little run of form building up.

Predicting

Gibbs Mert Nacho Chambers
------Arteta----Ramsey
Ox--------Cazorla-----Alexis
----------Welbeck

Personally I like to see Cazorla dropped, Alexis moved centrally and Campbell to start but that's dreaming.
