Urquhart vs. Armfield

I assume you mean for Premium?

Westhoff easily, Gray needs too much to go his way to get 70+.

I think he meant last year, where Westhoff and Gray were the mid year cashcows of choice with a break even that was the same.
Westhoff ended up performing better.....

Because Armfield has been listed on the extended bench, I'll probably go with Urquhart...just incase.
Is Armfield a certainty to play?

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the similar situation many were in last year choosing between two similar averaging players. From what I remember the slight majority favoured Gray over Westhoff because he was a midfielder, Gray scored very poorly and got dropped, while Westhoff strung together some above average DT games and secured his spot in the side.

I want to downgrade Wona to Armfield/Urq for cash but is it too risky to have one of these 2 starting as my 7th backs? My other emergencys are Selwood and SDT.

At the moment my backup backs are NJBrown and Proud.

This week I'm placed with a problem, I can:

(1) Play NJB and hope Bradshaw returns next week

(2) Trade Bradshaw for someone like Fisher, Bock, Newman etc before he drops significantly in price

(3) Trade Proud for Urquhart / Armfield, gain a solid backup back and play them untill Bradshaw gets back and use the cash elsewhere

(4) Do both trades (2) and (3)

I'm probably leaning away from the last option, I have 8 trades left and only one upgrade to complete but I want to keep as many in the bank as possible. I'm thinking (3), as I'm in a pretty tenous position having NJB as a backup every week and Proud doesn't look like breaking into Brisbane's team anytime soon...

Anyone with thoughts / suggestions?

My gut feeling says Urquhart.

Although most people here are saying Armfield, my gut feeling has served me well in the past, so I'm going for Urquhart. He looks more likely to be a consistent scorer and I don't think he will be an SDT or a Riggio.

I hate trading in players I haven't seen much of, and I haven't seen Urquhart at all, and Armfield I didn't notice at all at AAMI on Sunday (and I don't have the stomach to watch the replay).

I went Urquhart, as although I don't know a great deal about Carlton's list, there just seems like 4-5 kids that could take Armfield's spot at any time.

I was considering Urq or Army...

And if I was to choose between them id be on Army!

But...

In the end decided to go T Lonergan...

:)

Not a bad choice, was thinking the same kind of trade but in the forward line (still got Gamble sitting there). But I'm thinking that as soon as Hawkins has a big game in the VFL he'll take his spot back.

Urquhart

  • Dean Laidley has heaped praise on Urquhart in the press this week - tick
  • Dean Laidley is renowned for wrecking the dreams of Dream Team owners with his reluctance to play rookies for any extended period of time - cross
  • Has been named this week on the ground, even with a couple of good ins - tick
  • Is a more attacking type of defender than Armfield - likely to outscore him on average - tick
Armfield

  • Impressive in two games against quality opposition - the Cats and the Power - tick
  • Named on an extended interchange bench this week, so not 100% to play - cross
  • Plays a more defensive style than Urquhart - has said his role is focused on stopping his opponent rather than personal stats - cross
  • Brent Ratten has also wreaked havoc with Dream Teams this year with his sporadic use of the likes of Pfieffer and Edwards - cross
You can probably see in which direction I’ve headed from those points - in the end I gave the edge to Urquhart. In reality, I don’t think there’s much between them at all - I’m not confident Urquhart will play more than Armfield, and I’m not confident either will play a whole lot more through the rest of the season. Having Chad Cornes as a defender, and no emergency defenders led me to pick Urquhart as I can be sure he’s playing this week, and I will be able to salvage something should Chad pull something shoddy.

Andrew Walker and Jordan Bannister to return in a couple.

Then there is Laidley ____ing us about and doing a Riggio on us, although Urquhart has been very impressive.

C.Ward or Armfield for the trade from S.Browne??

and also Urquart would be a better option then Armfield ? because he had a better score in round 2 which % would give him a better chance to increase in price over the next 2 weeks. Armfield may play more games although Urquart has been named in the roos starting side and Armfield on extended bench. Both have good players to come back in for each team.
