It isn't that easy though. It's natural for humans to want to surround themselves with those that hold and represent the same or similar values. I'm not just talking pure political views and more those that blur the lines between political and human rights issues.

Not directly relevant to me but use the abortion issue as a point of contention. Could you see how it would be difficult for those on either end of the spectrum to be friends? You have one pushing with bodily autonomy and women human rights and the other calling for a complete ban on abortions under any circumstances. This is just an example where it's difficult to just 'move on'.

Mate, if you can't live your life with others that have a different opinion to you than that's on you. it isn't supposed to be easy, life isn't easy. All you are creating is division.

I am pro-abortion. I have mates who are against it. Me not being friends or removing them from my life doesn't change their minds, their vote is still their vote.

The sooner people start finding common ground the better this world will be. Not being friends with people because you disagree is what children do.

Commenting on the obvious isn't a true colour

We call it accepting reality.

Not liking that reality doesn't make it a falsehood I'm afraid

i mis put we* instead of he*

Yeah, it's great that we now know the date that the Russia-Ukraine war will end. It's 21st January 2025, the day after Trump's Inauguration, because he has repeatedly said he'll finish it in one day.
yeah exactly. Said multiple times it will be finished on day 1 if he wins. Will be indefensible if not delivered.

What has caused inflation then? The alternative to the biggest economic event in our lifetime not causing inflation is what?
Money printing.

Like it always does. The USA under Trump printed $13 trillion in response to CoVid. It is an eye watering number.

Yes a massive percentage of that simply disappeared in share buy backs and other forms of wealth hoarding by the elites - all under Trump.

But enough “trickled down” to create massive inflation.

Australia spent $507 billion.

And just like the USA we have nothing to show for it except inflation, a housing crisis, historic wealth inequality and massive national debt.

but where used correctly tariffs "encourage" consumer to purchase the locally made product and there keep the money in the country creating jobs etc.

All well and good when people are prepared to pay more for that product.

Society has become so used to getting the product for the cheapest amount. And the only way this occurs is by businesses producing said products in areas of the world where the cost is lower.

If you wish to buy the local product, it has to be reasonably priced. Otherwise, the company will suffer a hit to its bottom line, and it will try to ensure that the workers do not get the deserved wage.

I dont think it was a natural occurence ? I think COVID lockdowns had something to do with why they printed money yeah ?

The posts overnight resemble a cut snake, flailing, aimless, venomous. More lies and misinformation spewed about why this is a terrible moment for the world or the American people, frightening racism and classism shown by some, a lack of economic understanding, a lack of political understanding. Overwhelmingly the evenings discussion is reminiscent of talking to an AI LLM trained on CNN sound bites.

The talk of cutting off friends and family are worse. You should know that you are the minority. For every handful of people who actively and vocally support Trump in your life, there are 100% more who do so silently. You think right leaning and centrist individuals are the minority - but they are merely silent. Not looking to offend you or your delicate introspective position. Know that you are the odd one out.

Again, it's okay. You are forgiven for your ignorance, your hatred, your disrespect to others. Take some time, let the result breathe. Embrace your friends and family as people and walk forward.

2) The entire democratic campaign was about attacking Trump. Not based on policy. You can hate Trump for all the reasons under the sun, but he knows that voters want. And that is jobs and food on their tables. Thats what he ran with and that's why he won.
Bizarre.

Her policies were far more defined than Trump's and if you read them, offered more potential wins for the working class. And attacking (democrats, immigrants) was all Trump did, along with his usual detail-free promises of "I will fix it".

Its vibes, as others have said its not about policy anymore in the US, its personalities. And probably timing more than anything else, whoever was in power during the covid recovery years when prices just went up no matter what goverments did were always a good chance to get turfed, especially so when you're as underwhelming and vanilla as the Democrats. The 2 elections he's one have been against women too, simply can't discount that as a factor in the US.
