They shouldnt be taking it well. They lost an unlosable election and they lost it badly. Democrats need to oust the dead wood from the leadership of the party. They are right, Biden should never have ran, it was a stupid idea and it was shown up for what it was pretty quickly. Should have Harris been the candidate? well through the late Biden call they couldnt run the process to select a candidate properly and Harris was gifted the gig do to a popularity burst prior to the DNC. So everything was done on the fly.

Hopefully now come 2028 we will see a fresh look for American politics.

I wonder how many people are excited that JD Vance is 50% likely to be the president of the united states by 2026?

I have read his book of his life. I will say I was more than surprised that he was Trumps running mate.

His book, Hillbilly Elegy gave an indication of why Trump had a collective of people disaffected by modern politics enough to see him as a saviour as there was a group who had a reasonably OK life on the back of factory work where they had a decent house, a car, a community to raise their family...and right or wrong, that seemed to be taken away from them from both sides and Trump, reached out to those people.

His life, to be born into a shitty, drunken, Appalachian family in the woods, to be saved by his grandparents, to be forced to do school, to be saved from himself, to go to Iraq (or Afghanistan but I think it was Iraq)and then better himself to the point he pushed himself to become the best he could be, going to a University that he felt he did not belong in, because it was the best ( It was Yale) and make more of a man of himself.

Then to go back to his community and help disadvantaged kids because it was the right thing to do, to pay it forward...

I get people dislike Trump, I get it, but Vance, read his book (it is a great read), he is everything America says it stands for, you can be born anything but you can become anything.

He was born Hillbilly trash, he started form the bottom

I think it was him sane washing Trumps statements that rubbed some people the wrong way.

Some on the TDS sight may finally get what they wished for.

Patel says

"We're going to need a declassification Czar at this rate. Trump will give us the JFK files, the MLK files, and every other thing they've been hiding from us. "

Did these pollsters get their data from the Adelaide International Politics thread???

US pollsters are under fire for the third presidential election running for failing to foresee Donald Trump’s emphatic ballot box triumph that will propel him back to the White House.

Having seriously underestimated Trump’s support in the 2016 and 2020 elections, polling agencies trumpeted a recalibrated methodology for 2024 that was meant to more realistically reflect his standing while restoring their own credibility.

Compounding the embarrassment, many polling experts in the final days before election day predicted a narrow electoral college victory for Kamala Harris, who was foreseen by some as just about eking a win in a majority of the seven swing states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.

If you ignored literally every other issue, this one issue alone warrants the Democratic Party never taking power for the rest of our lives (we wish…)

Truly, what is more evil than the deliberate sexual mutilation of children under the Orwellian guise of “medicine”?

Name me one thing. Go ahead.

Dropping a nuclear bomb on a city of innocent people is by far the bigger crime. But that was democrats as well. Republicans do hold the title of starting a war that had mass casualties of innocent women and children through a lie. Pretending weapons of mass destruction was a thing Hussain had.

Look, its not the party its the individuals that work through the party at the time. But in the end I dont think that was the issue. I truly think it was the economy and cost of living.

Bush was correct going after Bin Laden. They saw political opportunity and went full hell for leather regardless of the truth.
His administration with Cheney involved were criminally corrupt.

Wow. Sunlight is the best medicine after all. Where were these guys before the election.

Housing prices wont go down. Mass deportation is a shallow prediction that really fails to include the most obvious. Cashed up investors swarming the market who will out bid wannabe home owners. This happens time and time again regardless of the house price.

He was correct. I just dont think they had to lie to do it. They would have gone to war regardless. But the way the war was carried out and well documented war crimes by soldiers doesnt sit well.

Ridding Iran of Sadan was good it was the justification (WMD) that was criminal. Bush had no plans after the war. At least his father knew when he went against Sadan when to stop. He knew that deposing one tyrant in the ME will create a vacuum. Pity he did pass on that advice to his son.
Obama coming in should have done more instead of making racial division the pillar of his presidency.

And the main architect of that war came out in support of Harris, which I said at the time would be a drag on her vote rather than switching any Republicans to vote for her.

Ive read a bit around Obama and the racial divide but its hard to read too much into it. How much was genuine and how much was driven by a white response to a black president? Even the late 80s and 90s were littered with racial incidence in a well known racist country. So yes while some of the concern at the time comes from a genuine place, i think dwelling on something we will never know and labelling Obama as divisive doesnt really help the modern conversation.

BLM under the democrats was by far the biggest racial divider as people went around telling black people they are a victim of oppression. Thats is where our current issues lie. Fixing the racial divide that BLM created and fixing the poor attitude of the self labelled oppressed needs to happen.
