Going over in Oct/Nov for 4 and a bit weeks.

Phoenix - 5 days
Cancun - 5 days
Orlando - 4 days
New York - 6 days
Vegas - 2 days
San Fran - 3 days
LA - 4 days

Heading to some NBA/NFL/NHL games whilst I'm over there. Using Stubhub (any better sites out there?).
Staying at Disneyworld in Orlando, so would it be worth going to Disneyland in LA or are they too similar?
Universal Studios worth it?

Cheers

Disneyland in Anaheim is pretty similar to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, so not worth doubling up. I'd go to Universal when in Hollywood instead.

StubHub is the best for MLB as they are an official partner. For NBA / NFL also check the team websites (that will link to Ticketmaster or similar) because they have resale tickets there as well. If the game you are going to is not super popular, resale tickets will be cheapest about 2-4 hours from the start.

Also echo the statement above above not needing to double up on Disneyland if you have been to Disneyworld.

currently in LA and always advise going to DL in LA. However, as you are disneyworlding, perhaps best to spend your $ elsewhere. However, give CAlifornia adventure land a go, which is opposite DL.

Universal Universal in orlando is awesome. But you need to do both parks, if you only do one make it Islands of adventure. Might help to get a fast pass and do both parks in the one day.

However if you are in orlando i suggest doing Busch Gardens in Tampa, easily the best theme park in the area. They have shuttle buses that go there from Seaworld.

Dont waste your time on DL in LA, just smash theme parks in Orlando

Sometimes I come back and read this thread and can't help but say if you are spending time in the states, give yourself plenty of time away from the cities
You meet amazing and sometimes very different people in small town America and in between is an abundance of breathtaking scenery
It may be cliche but get out of the car and hike in Yosemite
Camp rather than in motels if driving the car, the campgrounds such as state parks, local council parks and even those run by dept of fisheries are beautiful and cheap as chips and you meet great people
If you are in New England, take the cob railway up Mt Washington and spend time in the White Mountains in full autumn color
Spend time in the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico and see the stars at night
Find glorious coast in Washington state
There are many things more beautiful and life changing than spending time in the cities

Aye. I cannot disagree despite not doing or having the urge to do any of them. All sound amazing!

Agree - love the outdoors - all the NPs in western and mid-west USA and the coast up in the North East (Maine and Nova Scotia/Prince Edward Island/Newfoundland in Canada). See the real America (other than Vegas - got to go there).

Mmm have you lived in snow? i lived in Vancouver (2 hours from Seattle) and we could still do stuff but freezing and wet!

Depends on where you head. The Pacific Northwest in winter is VERY different to other parts of Nth America. Personally, I prefer a -20 degree day in the east vs a 3 degree day in Seattle or Vancouver. That damp cold just goes right through you.

I agree, mrs and i thought we would prefer Vancouver's weather as its the "mildest" but we found the rain and greyness to much. i think it rained 6 weeks straight at one point then straight into weeks of snow!

Much rather blue skies and sun but -15

Got back on Sunday from about 5 weeks over there. Mostly went to sports (9 football games, 8 baseball games and 1 ice hockey game) but also did a little bit of sightseeing. Drove from Toronto upto Jasper and went to Arches NP and a qucik trip through Zion. Was in NY for a little bit but didn't really do much tourist stuff as Ive done it before, but I did go to the 9/11 site which they hadn't build when I was last there. Surreal to stand down there and imagine that day.

I endorse this statement.

Heading over with the misses for New year leaving xmas night for 4 weeks. Also to catch up with my bro who is living their.
Return flights emirates for $1800 return.

Our plan is new york 5 nights, air bnb. Haven't sussed that out yet,

Montreal to visit a mate for a few days, then maybe Vancouver.

I've done Austin, Portland, LA, DC in my last trip. Any suggestions for the east coast/ Canada

my GF is starting to get really panicked about going through customs once we hit LA

is there any advice anyone here can give me? I've never done customs anywhere so I don't have any idea what to expect

I went through customs a few times in the US for both domestic flights and international ones, and it didn't seem any more intense. London is still the harshest I've seen, and leaving Australia weirdly enough. In the US they occasionally do weird things like scribble random words on your boarding pass, look at you weird and try to hurry you up, but eh nothing too bad. You should be fine being in a couple – they generally go harder on solo young travellers.

just a bit spooked that something will happen

They'll ask for your passports, ask you where you're staying, why you're coming to the US, and maybe ask for proof that you're leaving the country (your ticket home).

They will also ask for your Esta visa.

Just be respectful, polite and answer the questions truthfully and you will sail right through.

And (obviously) don't try to bring anything dodgy through, or be a smart ass!

Smile, be polite, answer questions in a mature manner. If you dare be a smart arse don't be surprised if your comments are met with a frown and an escort (not of the nice kind) to a room.

Goes without saying "jokes" about terrorism etc are just a no no.

They may ask what you do for a living. Mrs Norf told them the truth in that she works for a retail outlet here (named the business name). Was weird, as if they'd go "oh yeah, heard of them".

They'll take fingerprints electronically. cant remember if photo taken also (jesus was only there 7 weeks ago!).

You won't have a problem mate.

They have a bunch of machines that you answer some questions on and it takes a photo then you take the print out to another line and give it to some guy who is probably going to look grumpy and won't say a word and that's it.

There's really nothing too it.

The only advice I have is don't take your phone out when youre in that area. There are signs saying not to and I heard a couple of people being told off.

I weirdly enough never had to go through those scanners and cameras, kind of disappointed as I thought the little photo print outs you get would be a cool momento. This was JFK too.
