Pretty sure everyone had a melt about that at the time tooAstbury was a gun.
Did he deserve the #12 only 17 games into his career after moving from 39?

Jagga Smith from Carlton got number 7 other clubs are giving there top draft kid a good number, & I have no issue with our new recruits earning a good number, but when you see Ben Miller getting 12, you have to say this whole earn your jumper stuff is BS...
No thanks.Imagine Lalor getting delisted wearing the #4.

Can’t say I really agree, these players can make their own history even if given important numbersDon't mind the allocation of numbers. Let them make their own history in the numbers they have been given rather than trying to live up to the recent history associated with numbers like 4 8 & 9.
I like that we didn't hold over the jumpers of those who opted to depart and instead gave them out. Save that for retiring champs, it would have been great to have Grimes number 2 held over, but understand it being handed to Hopper given it was his number at the Giants.

It also sets a weird precedent in “resting” numbers that belonged to 3 time flag players and including number 10 in that reasoning that was active only last year and wasn’t rested as soon and Sheds retired
Does that mean we are going to rest 25 post Nank or 1 and 35 post Vlossy and Broad
If they didn’t want Lalor compared to Dusty they could of just as easily given him 9 or 10 and Smilie number 4

Yeah I’m melting pretty hard atmWait, are people complaining about what numbers players have?
I don't think it's the 3 x flag winning aspect, but more that they're all 300 gamers, which is a pretty exclusive club at Richmond given that we only had Bartlett Dyer & Bourke before Edwards Riewoldt Cotchin & Martin joined them. IMO that's the aspect that sees those numbers being held over. Maybe that's the new tradition that has been created here. Maybe the number 10 is being held over for an indigenous player that comes along and earns the number. Maybe 4 8 & 9 are being held over until we do get a kid who earns them through actual performances on the field rather than just being a high draft pick and asking for them. Can’t say I really agree, these players can make their own history even if given important numbers

If that is the reasoning the club needs to do a better job in explaining such especially given 10 was used for the last two seasons anywayI don't think it's the 3 x flag winning aspect, but more that they're all 300 gamers, which is a pretty exclusive club at Richmond given that we only had Bartlett Dyer & Bourke before Edwards Riewoldt Cotchin & Martin joined them. Maybe they do, maybe they don't. The thing is they get a relatively low number that they can start their careers in and make their own history in if they do stay with it.Thats all well and good but i bet they will change numbers before their career is done.
