Oh WOW. Look its Vickers-Willis posting. Its great that you and your mate O'Brien post on this site........NOT

TOOL OF THE WEEK = GUYS WHO PRETEND TO BE PLAYERS FROM OPPOSITION TEAMS.

Agreed...

As for Vickers-Willis. We look forward to the challenge ion a few weeks. No need to be too cocky though... You only rolled Yarra by a point. Hardly form worth being this confident about. Though based on Saturday's performance I'd think they'll sneak past Parade come season's end.

Nobody from OGS posts on this site, so i dont know why you think anyone is being cocky.

And to the earlier question why do they do that? Who knows. Small things excite small minds.

looks like its the same teams mentioned on here. hampton were ok but we were the last team to beat them and didn't think they were that great. we'll replace hampton or oakleigh in the 4. prahran say they had a bad day and i agree with uncle mick about oakleigh. yarra valley will upset some teams towards the finals especially on there own heap. the weather made the game a more even contest but they were much improved from last time we met.

mentone were missing a couple last week, but i reckon they'll be too strong for hampton. the 5 wins hampton have had include therry twice and parade. won't be up to it in a close one against mentone.

Its gonna be hamptons biggest game of the year.. its a must win for them. I think mentone will play it up as a big game too.. if they win they will finish top 2. hampton lose they will find making the 4 very hard.

get down and watch this game, game of the round by far.

And possibly one of the games of the home & away season to date. This match will tell us a lot about the finals chances of Hampton Rovers and Old Mentonians.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

I don't think anyone's overly interested Jase. It's still round 12. Granted it's an important game, it won't be treated as anything more than another must-win.

I think the more interesting thing will be how long Hampton let Biggs run around on Carr before they knock him out (my guess is in the first 5 mins of the 1st 1/4). Even though Hampton are not one man team, Carr is a very important link.. just like Bucks. Two most important players for them.

surely he is the number one run with player in our comp?

has any midfielder beaten him this year?

i hear he also carrying a shoulder injury?

any truth to that rumour?

he can run with them but cant do much else he cherry picks and dosnt go in for the hard ball. his shoulder injury is just an excuse to shed the light away from his diminishing ability to play.

I know it's only Round 12, but this game could (and will) tell us a lot about the finals potential of both Hampton Rovers & Old Mentonians, especially with both teams in the four. But I agree with most of the comments with other members of the D1 forum regarding this game, I think we're in for an explosive encounter on Saturday!!! At least thank goodness we will have A section umpires like Mark Gibson (best umpire I've seen in my time in watching VAFA since 1975, because he not only keep the game under control and free-flowing all the time very well, but also clamps down on incidents by talking to players-something very few umpires in this competition do and can also handle big games like finals, local derbies and rep matches better than any other umpire in the VAFA), Albie Firley, Wayne Hinton or Tim Sutcliffe controlling this game(due to A section getting the week off). I think the ones we usually have seen so far this year (with the exception of Steve McCarthy) might not control a powderkeg game like the Rovers-Old Mentonians match. The A section umpires, like the ones I mention above are better able than the D1 umpires to control finals-type games like this one (and local derbies are known over the years for their potential for things getting out of control-on & off the field-think Adelaide-Port Adelaide, or West Coast-Fremantle) that are on the brink of erupting into violence, and also they won't tolerate any off-the-ball incidents and can sometimes cautions coaches (any coach, no matter what club he is representing) if things get a little or a lot out of hand.

I think your being a bit hard on the kid buffalo. I personally think Biggs is a sensational player and just because he doesn't do the fancy things like take a hanger or kick a bag of goals doesn't mean he can't play. If he is given a job to do by the knob of a coach down at Mentone to run with someone, then he does it and does it very well. With others talking about how long he will last before he is knocked out is a disgrace. These are usually the ones that are all talk and no action. OM's will be wrapped if that's the theory that Hampton are taking into the game this weekend. Just my opinion.

I think Biggs is better then that, he gets more touches of it then you think.

It will be interesting to see if he is soft this weekend.. cos everyone is coming for him... i know last week he was hit hard and kept getting up.. and actually was on the bottom of packs a lot.

Sorry First home your barking up the wrong tree, as Hampton are the last team you will see resorting to dirty off the ball tactics.

You also don't have all your information, or you havn't seen them this year if you think they are the two most important players. Biggs can try nulify Carr and he did a fairly decent job on him last time, but he'll have a hard time running with him all day on the Boss.

Long time reader, first time poster. I have been to watch many D1 games this season and here's my predicted round 18 ladder.

OM's
Hampton
Oakleigh
Geelong
Prahran
Peninsula
Buleen Temp
Yarra
Parade
Therry

Should be a good tussle for the 3rd and 4th spots with every game critical.

Us Parade boys were stiff against the "Bendovers" on Saturday!
If it wasn't for a few simple mistakes and some shocking umpiring decisions the game would have been ours. We must do something about the current state of umpiring in this league. What do you guys think?
No longer should a team get robbed of the 4 points because some nerd doesn't understand the game like we did over the weekend.

some inside information... we've never heard of the nerd and we care little about any one player. get over it mules.

What a joke!

If you are going to blame Umpiring for loosing a game then you clearly have no idea what Football is about ... what a pathetic and p!ss weak excuse for a post, go away and try again because you are embarrassing your colleagues from Parade. If you want the standard of Umpiring to improve why don't you move up a few grades to where the Standard of Umpiring is higher?

:thumbsdown:Anthony

NOTICE TO ALL. This T*sser actually belongs to a club in a different grade who is just stirring up cr*p on this forum. Mate get a life and stop wasting everyones time.....your own club would prefer you spent more time helping them productively, rather than stirring the pot in a different Grade.

Must win game this week for the Ants at Como. Lose and they can kiss the season good-bye. On paper, they look like they have a pretty decent side, but age and leg speed seems to be creeping up on them.
OGS by 42 points in a crucial game for both teams.

That's right.... The game plan revolves around having Biggs knocked out in the first quarter you twat. We're rattled!

Mentone are not much chop from the matches that i have seen. A side that gets up by a few goals early in the piece should run away with it.

Uncle Mick, i remember reading about a gun recruit you guys had, was it Ulbrich? Has he played yet, haven't seen his name in the goals/best.
