Specky isn't that bad this is blown a bit out of proportion. Yes he did go off at an OP's player that hit an OM's player. Specky is one of our mates and he wants to stick up for us. I think you will find specky also fired the OP's boys up to see how our younger players would respond to a bit of tough football.

Yes he is passionate but that his style of coaching, so far this year I would have to say it has been pretty effective. We are 2nd on the ladder. Who knows how we will continue playing but so far this year it has been pretty successful compared to past years.

The behaviour of Mentone supporters and more importantly, the coach, was nothing short of absolutely disgusting at the Garvey on Saturday.

Fair dinkum, surely OMs players will even admit this when, at quarter time, a senior coach tries to go at opposition players only to be held back by his own players. This was followed by continual threats to an OPs player, instructing his players at quarter time to take out the same player, and bashing the crap out of the bench (the actual infrastructure, not the players!).

Add to this the blatant cheating from the jockey umpire, who had already been reported on two separate occasions prior to this game, and it was a very dark day for football.

Seriously, can the VAFA please do something about this c**khead from Mentone??????

How bout an investigation into Young king hitting one of OM's players....thats the only reason mcgee went nuts...who would like to see one of there own players go down..especially in those circumstances
..
Vodka what about your own coaching staff..the bloke (mabye the assistant coach) that was trying to pick a fight with everyone at half time was nothing short of a disgrace..mabye you should look after you own back yard first....

Like ten other blokes (or 16 according to Damien Oliver's report card) Young was involved in a melee, would hardly call it a king hit. Even if it was, he is a player, McGee is a coach and should know better...end of story as far as I'm concerned.

Pretty sure our Assistant Coaches were straight in the rooms at half time so not sure what you're talking about there. Maybe it was just a spectator, I really can't comment considering this is the first I've heard. Can u give me more insight?

Have any other clubs reported McGee before?

I recall young's Grand father have a go at me.. for some unknown reason, i wasnt even near the melee.. i also recall a bloke given it to Mcgee for some reason at the start of the 2nd 1/4. to be honest it was pretty bad from all.. i dont think anyone was really in the wrong because both teams acted pretty bad and OP's players started the melee. I can not believe the umpires havent reported it or any players out of it??

and the bloke that gave it to our full forward all day, drove his car up and down on the outter wing yelling abuse at him.. what a clown..

I noticed on the VAFA website that Oakleigh plays Old Mentonians at Southern Reserve this Saturday-first v second on the ladder, with only 2 points seperating them. The winner would get top spot, with the finals only 3 weeks away.

Here's the ladder as it stands after Round 14:

Oakleigh 46
Old Mentonians 44
Hampton Rovers 40
Prahran 38
------------------------
Bulleen Templestowe 28
Old Geelong 28
Peninsula 28
Old Paradians 16
Yarra Valley 12
Therry Penola 0

yes how disgraceful, when a mentone player is clearly targeted and king hit that his coach stick up for him.
the fact that it happened directly infront of 15 mentone supporters accounted for their (justified) reactions.
interesting to note OP's coach reaction; happily blowing kisses to Specky whilst telling him 'theres more of that to come....'
so vodka - whose actions are more disgusting?
perhaps you should also look in your own backyard regarding supporters as theres no excuse for drunken feral ranting from your supporters on the far wing
as for the umpires, they werent cheating, they just genuinely had no clue, worst preformance ive seen from the men in white.

Sorry about that, Running with Someone, I thought it was at Oakleigh's ground, didn't read the fixture properly. But regardless of where it's at, it's still going to be a great game of football. This game would be played at a finals-like atmosphere, with everything to play for-top spot on the ladder, with the finals only 3 weeks away. I wonder what both clubs would do-would they go for all-out attack, or would they play it safe and go into a defensive frame of mind and not show their hand, knowing they might meet again later in the finals? Who do you think will win this game-Oakleigh or Old Mentonians?

Umpires cheating, well that is a new excuse I have heard and doubt it very much.

Big game this week V&C.....

There's sticking up for a player and then there's charging the opposition huddle at quarter time. Quite the difference I would think. Doubtful anyone would have reacted as strong as they did if it wasn't for McGee the Maniac.

If the Hampton Rovers-Bulleen Templestowe game was amazing, then the Old Paradians-Old Mentonians match (and the reports I'm reading regarding what happened in that game) tops that. I think we're going to hear more-a lot more about what happened in that game-over the coming days and weeks. I'm wondering regarding the incidents that took place at the Old Paradians-Old Mentonians game, would it be investigated by the VAFA? How bad was the incidents? And why was there no A & B grade umpires appointed to that game?
